Dined with a friend on a quiet Saturday night in July; it seems everyone is at the shore. First time diners here, had heard good things. Everything was very fresh and very local. We started with the arugula salad and the beet salad: both excellent. The entree menu is small (3 choices), but they also offered three entree specials as well as sandwiches such as a really good looking burger. We had the grilled free bird chicken and one of the specials, red snapper. Both very good. This is a casual, friendly place, but with food prepared with care and creativity. Service was kind and efficient. Roots is better known for breakfast and brunch, which I will now want to try, but dinner is also worth your attention.
Staff were very accommodating, allowing us to taste wine before ordering and providing pita that was not on menu. Red snapper was delicious, very fresh and flavorful. Duck sandwich also very good and sweet potato fries crispy.
Hadnât been here in a while and I canât wait to come back! The food was great, the cocktails yummy, and the service attentive!

Roots has been a favorite of our for years. Ownership has changed and the experience lacks a bit. We both had a grouper special it was good but not great and we were never told the cost of this special. It would have been a good value at 28-30 per plate not 40 per plate.
Delicious food and cute atmosphere!! Definitely ask for their homemade hot sauce as it is 10/10 for flavor!

The restaurant was completely filled — we were lucky to have gotten a table for our family. It’s a cute spot - but there were a few noisy tables in a small room so everyone was talking loudly to be heard. Service was very good - waiter was eager to please and had a fun personality. Food was good but not as special as expected. Prices are high - but then again - they are everywhere these days! All in all a nice spot for dinner.
