I had higher expectations of this place. The short rib ragu was great but everything else was sub par at best. We both tried the veal main course and they were under seasoned and over cooked. We waited an hour and a half after placing our order. In the 2.5 hours we were there our waitress stopped at our table four times, two of which was to bring our order.Mediocre food and poor service for such high prices. I won't be returning.
Went here on a Date night with my wife for our anniversary. The staff was incredible and were always on top of refills and asking us if we had questions about specials or anything on the menu. I had the Halibut and my wife had the scallops and risotto. Both meal portions were huge and gave us enough to take some home! The drinks were on the pricy side, but well worth it (mezcal old fashioned was very good!). Little on the pricy side, but very good for a date night atmosphere.
Kris was our server. He was excellent. So attentive and his suggestions and descriptions of the menu was spot on.
Fourth time visiting this restaurant. Great food. Excellent service. Poor management. Don’t take reservations if you’re going to make people wait 50 minutes to get a table. It’s wrong. I would go back again maybe on a Monday or Tuesday night when it’s not as busy, but never again on a weekend. Or maybe not at all. Haven’t decided yet.
We are a local couple and dine out a great deal. Last night we had a reservation (which was confirmed by us and acknowledged by Mercato) for a party of 4 at 7:15...we arrived at 7:10 and were told our table wouldn't be available for 30-45 minutes. The noise level was so high we had to almost yell at the overwhelmed girl at the front desk. We finally gave up after 45 minutes and went to The Marshalton Inn which accommodated us immediately...we won't be back to Mercato...and I have had lunch there many times as well as dinner.
Fun resturant and bar with decent service but the food was just not that good. See end of review for the v. good exceptions. I'll try not to judge the type of food because it's Italian- American, not Italian. If you've ever been to Italy, you'd know. But really good Italian-American exists, just not here. Perhaps it's too ambitious or whatever - I don't know. Here's what I do know: (1) Pasta overcooked, (2) Short Rib way undercooked - it's supposed to be tender, (3) Overuse of Pancetta in recipes, (4) Fried Artichokes - I've has way better, just didn't seem homemade, (5) Octopus was biggest disappointment - undercooked, plate too busy with other stuff and way too expensive, (6) Bolognese Sauce - too much tomato, its supposed to be a rich meat sauce - this was not, VERY GOOD: simple pizza, excellent crust. Very well prepared Red Snapper. Two best dishes of the night - we had six.
Good food and nice atmosphere. Easy access for my Mom who uses a walker. The service was a little slow to bring the check, and get attention at the end of the meal, but everything else was great.
My parents eat here multiple times every time they visit us in West Chester. We always sit outside and have always received wonderful service. We have never been disappointed with our meal, however, the salads are a favorite. Especially the salad special they had during the Fall. It was amazing.
We love Mercato, having just spent time in Italy, it took me back to the wonderful experiences shared there.
I hardly ever leave a review but I felt like I needed to after my experience. We had a party of 21 people where Tommy was our one and only waiter. He was phenomenal. Every drink was served timely. He was so attentive and so personable. I cannot say enough about his level of service. You just don’t find that level of service any more. Thank you Tommy and Mercato for making my sons graduation party a very enjoyable afternoon!
