Total ripoff! Stopped there on Saturday ~10AM. Not busy...requested a table outside. There were only 2 other tables full and not busy inside. It took our server( "Nathan"?) 10 minutes to greet us. Ok, he got side-tracked. Or was overwhelmed with only 2 other tables! Anyway, here's the best part...ordered a decaf coffee w/milk. I received a mug which appeared to only have milk in it! Server said, "Oh, I added the milk for you". I told the server I didn't want it but please bring me another one w/milk on the side. As there was too much milk in the coffee for me. He brough me another mug which literally(this is true!) had only 2ounces of coffee in a 10oz mug!! He told me they don't receive many requests for decaf coffee so they have to make it in their espresso machine. Ok, that may be but, how about running it through the espresso machine enough times to generate a full cup of coffee, which is what I had asked for and expected! Patrons other tables who ordered regular coffee had full cups brought to them! Now Nathan was either trying to insult my intelligence, was playing a game, or just lacking in common sense. I refused the coffee. Seems like I was penalized for ordering decaf coffee. Next was the french toast which was nothing more than a brioche roll, toasted w/little flavor and a few berries thrown on it. A bowl of cut fruit which was a few berries, and a few chunks of cantaloupe. The only customer focused-value added service was Nathan asked if we wanted an umbrella brought over our table, as the sun was strong. Also, "interesting" was the mgr/owner(?) stopped by all the tables to see how all the patrons meals were. But, did not stop by ours! Hmmm...why's that?(Owner/Mgr if you're reading this!?) Seems like were were outcasts. WILL NEVER GO BACK and DO NOT RECOMMEND this place! A joke for $35. But I guess the joke was on m.....I guess should have brought my own decaf coffee. :-)
Short rib was dry and bland. Barely touched it and staff didn't bother to ask why. Restaurant was practically abandoned. We almost didn't go because website didn't list a dinner menu. Overall poorly run...
2nd visit update I’ve tried their pancakes which were okay but breakfast potatoes weren’t crispy this time.Took my mom here for brunch for Mother’s Day because it’s one of the only restaurants around us that allows you to make reservations! Servers were so friendly. Food was delicious. I love how they have different coffee and hot drink options unlike some other brunch places that just serve black coffee. My latte was awesome! The French toast was unique but not my favorite. I loved the bacon (they give you so much!!) I requested it well done and they listened! Also the breakfast potatoes were amazing.
We went here for brunch after my daughters graduation last Sunday may 14 . It had been recommended to me by the West Chester mom group. We live in NJ so needed some suggestions. It was absolutely fantastic. All 7 of us ate everything on our plates. And the waitress ( I think her name was Veronica ) was the sweetest person ever ! What a wonderful way to end the graduation...I only wish we had a place like this in Bergen county NJ. The most delicious potatoes I’ve ever had too. Everything was so delicious!
I don’t know why I don’t eat here more often. The food is always super good, the service great and they’ve got a really solid kids menu. Plus a selection of locally made food items for sale. Got me some hot sauce!
Our experiences at MAE’s have been great! The little neck clams appetizer is a must every time we visit…the kids menu (big deal for us) is great and the entrees are a great balance between more upscale gourmet but still contemporary and delicious. From burgers and sandwiches to true dinner entrees we’ve had, everything tastes great and doesn’t break the bank. We recently ate there and started outside, then rain forced us inside and the servers helped grab all our bags and even proactively brought our stroller in to keep it from getting wet. I highly recommend dining at MAES!!!
They catered a wedding I photographed the other day, and the food was DELICIOUS! The staff was so kind and friendly. Highly recommend!
This is a small but clean and fresh feeling place. It's BYOB only, and the food is rustic farm to table. Everything was cooked well; however, I wish they were a little heavier on seasoning, the food was a bit bland.also I found the cheese board way overpriced. For $14 I want more than 5 small slices and timble of honey
Excellent brunch selections! The Cuban is ?delish
Extremely happy are the words that come to mind. Chef Josh and the entire Mae’s crew treated us to a fantastic meal. We were so excited to share one of our favorite spots with our friends and family for my wife’s birthday and it lived up to all expectations. Not only was the food exceptional, but it felt like we could’ve been sitting at our kitchen table with such a relaxed, enjoyable space. I would recommend Mae’s West Chester again and again.
