Maybe my expectation were a bit much. Chicken piccata was flavorful but the pasta was too Al dente and they should have put the lemon sauce on for some flavor. Service could have been better but the staff shortage in the country could be the reason.
Horrible experience. We walked in with no reservation but was greeted by a hostess within 3 minutes. We asked if we could sit in the back outside and she said she would check for us and that it was her first day. We then saw her go into the kitchen and had a waitress yell and scream in her face. When the host came back out she was calm and said she would set up table outside for us and needed 5 min (to which we said ofc no worries). Then, someone directed us to sit out front and I was annoyed that I just waited at list 20 min to it get the table we asked for and was willing to wait longer for. Once we were outside, it took overall 2 hours for us to get food/drink and check. The service was absolutely horrible. The worst I have ever had. The food was actually pretty good which is a shame because the service completely ruined it for us and we will not return and will pass this onto others. Oh! And I almost forgot to add - we ended up seeing the hostess leave the restaurant bawling her eyes out and never came back!!!! We felt so bad for her - the staff was so rude.
We ate dinner here on May 13th which was essentially ruined by their cavalier attitude toward customer safety. This is not a cheap place to eat and I guess I expected a high level of management professionalism. The pasta dish i ordered was very good, but unfortunately included a 3-ince piece of sharp plastic which i luckily didn't bite down on when it was in my mouth. Showed it our server who returned the piece to the chef whose response (through the server) was that it came from one of their plastic kitchen storage containers. They then gave me $ 5.00 off the bill (the corkage fee). This is not the response expected. Had the chef or the manager came to our table, made sure i wasn't hurt, and apologized for the incident I wouldn't be posting this. Very disappointed and we won't go back.
Dolce Zola is one of my favorite restaurants OF ALL TIME and definitely one of the best restaurants in West Chester. The food is AMAZING, all handmade and very fresh. Seriously, some of the best pasta I've ever had. Portion sizes are perfect. Service is always great, despite them always being busy. The building and atmosphere of the place is beautiful, great for a date night!! Desserts are to die for. You're truly missing out if you don't give Dolce Zola a try!!!!!
My husband and I had a 7:30 reservation. We were seated right away and were excited by the menu. Things went very much downhill from there. -It took 35 minutes for a glass of wine -Our appetizer did not come out at the same time. -The server passed by my empty glass of wine about 6 times and didn’t ask if I wanted another until another server noticed. We weren’t served our entrees until 9 pm. -The pasta was a great texture but the sauce was really bland. -Lastly, if you’re going to charge $24 for pasta you probably shouldn’t be using paper napkins. Go to Limoncello next time you’re looking for pasta in West Chester.
I'm kicking myself for not coming here sooner. Everything was perfect. The menu is simple but unique. They have a very wide variety of sauces and accompanying noodles, from traditional Italian flavors to never seen before sauces. We started with the whipped ricotta toast, which was heavenly. For mains we got the short rib ragu and walnut pesto fettuccine. I can't say enough how well everything was prepared and tasted. And to top it all off, we got tiramisu shots for dessert. I would highly recommend this hidden little gem!!!
Absolutely fantastic! Cocktails were perfect. Apps were fantastic. Homemade pasta entrees were mind blowing. Desserts were the icing on the cake. Service was AMAZING. Ambiance was perfect. Wish I could give more than 5 stars
My girlfriend and I have walked past this place many times and wanted to try it, and we were excited to get a 7pm reservation tonight. When we we got there we were seated immediately which was great, but sadly once we were sat down we were not there for long. We sat for 25 minutes and only one person stopped to give us water and offer us bread, but the bread never came and neither did our waiter or waitress. We left and told somebody upstairs who gave a very sad apology and asked if we wanted to be seated elsewhere. We declined as we didn’t want to wait any longer, needless to say we won’t be coming back, very disappointed. (Side note, we went to Bar Avalon right down the street and we’re taken care of amazingly, immediately and thoroughly.)
Our server was not good. When we arrived he approached us and asked if we were ready to order. He did not mention that there were no paper menus and that we would have to view the offerings on line. He also never told us about any specials and did not offer to open our bottle of wine. We felt that we were being rushed The quality of the food we ordered was good not great. We were seated in the basement which was cold and lacked any ambiance. I don't think we will be returning.
Great scratch kitchen. Amazing food!
