I never leave reviews and was excited to leave one for Uncle Chen's expecting to see other positive reviews. I'm kind of shocked by the amount of negative reviews. I ordered the "Beef with Chinese Pickled Pepper Dinner" and "Fried Sesame Balls with Red Bean Paste" and I can honestly say this is some of the best Chinese food I've ever had. I was pleasantly surprised! Everything tasted very fresh, and the Beef was amazing. I ordered through Uber Eats and it was seamless, with the order even coming earlier than expected.

Ordered food using Grubhub from here at 4:00pm, they said it'd be delivered around 4:45pm to 4:55pm. I called Grubhub at 5:20pm and was told they use their own drivers.I had to cancel my order and go without lunch as I didn't prepare anything due to me ordering from Uncle Chens.Let's hope they don't treat everyone like this.Edit: the owners response is exactly what it shouldn't be. When I called Uncle Chens (before I canceled) I was spoken to rudely, and he refused to also answer the GrubHub associate about where the order was.Oh well.

After being offered a BOGO deal for this restaurant on Uber Eats, I decided to try them. After accepting the deal on UE, I trawled the entire menu. And I do mean ENTIRE, as it is rare I eat out and the prospect of missing an item I would like best is something I avidly avoid. I order my meal. However, when the meal was delivered, there was just one of each item. I figured it was an honest mistake that would be fixed after speaking with the store. No big deal. However, this reasonable expectation could not have been further from the truth. The person on the phone proceeded to tell me that I did not ‘select the appropriate BOGO items’ that were available. Now, given I had scoured the entire menu, I knew this was not true, as there was not a single item on the menu that was specifically marked as BOGO—Uber Eats classifies the whole restaurant as BOGO without item-level differentiation. I was persistent in making this point on the phone with the restaurant but, based on my experience, customer service is the least of this restaurant’s concerns and they made it appallingly clear they had no intention of honoring this deal. The person on the phone simply hung up on me, without making the slightest of efforts to fix the problem—both for my order and for others that attempt to do the ‘BOGO’I really wouldn’t have tried this restaurant without the deal—especially given their subpar reviews I noted beforehand. It is most certainly my fault, in part, that I gave them a chance in that respect. However, despite the bad reviews, I certainly did not expect this. Frankly, all considered in this experience, it presents as though the restaurant is pretending to offer a deal they have no intention of honoring for the purpose of accruing more online orders.I will never order from this place again. I would strongly encourage others *not* to believe deals this restaurant offers and, upon eating, not to eat here at all. 0/5Update in response to restaurant's response:It is curious the restaurant decided to misrepresent it as, "all of your F bombs." In fact, it was one in the context of "are you F-ing kidding me? I read through the whole menu *hang-up sound*" The owner was appallingly curt, unhelpful, and unapologetic leading up to that point. All throughout, the owner was unwilling to admit the 'BOGO deal' was misleading—simply stating it applied to 'select items' (that simply don't exist). However, the BOGO deal on UEats did not say it only applied to 'select items'—the whole restaurant menu was listed in the BOGO section. The fact the owner was unapologetic and unwilling to rectify the problem in any way, and did not offer to fix how the 'BOGO deal' was presented on UEats (so others do not fall victim to the same trap), was astounding. You know, the kind of customer service that makes you go, "Are you F-ing kidding me?"As an interesting aside, I notice the 'BOGO deal' is no longer offered on UberEats at the time of this writing. But I'm sure it's just a coincidence it was taken down after I called out the restaurant's misleading practices...

I have been getting food at Uncle Chen's for over 20 years. I know the ownership changed at some point, but the food has always been delicious. They have the best tofu dish in State College, which is a special request I always make. Everyone always enjoys the food, no matter what we order. I highly recommend.

Waited over an hour for delivery, ordered from grub hub.. food was cold an was not good. Lady on the phone was rude disrespectful and laughed when I called, and she said it's cold outside of course the food is going to be cold! There was a delivery fee added to my order, in which confirmed by grub hub that it goes directly to the driver. I did not put a tip on my order. So she also laughed an said no one wants to deliver your food because you leave no tip. Asked to speak to manager an she refused!! Will not be ordering from here ever again!

Don’t treat it as an Authentic Chinese restaurant, but an American Chinese restaurant. Only in this way won’t you be disappointed. Worse than Panda Express but way more expensive…

4.5 stars if I could. This place has become a go-to for me in this town. The fried rice is good, their meats are pretty good (not top dollar cuts but it tastes good), and their portion sizes can't be beat around here. If you're looking to get filled up for less than $10-$15, this is the place to go to. My food has always been ready when their estimation says it will be, and they always politely serve me. I notice a lot of other reviewers complaining about delivery. I always pick up from them so that's never a problem for me.

I ordered a Sichuan Style Beef Noodle and a Stir-Fried Beef Ho Fun, and I definitely did not feel I got a bang for my bucks with either of my orders. For one, the prices of the food were a bit too high/steep and unreasonable relative to their portion sizes. The food was honestly not that much. Secondly, the quality of the food was not top-notch either. While the overall TASTE was decent, I have two main gripes about the food. The beef noodle soup was a bit TOO greasy and filled with nothing but salt and fat. Its consistency was just too thick. It was almost like slurping down cholesterol. And the beef itself was far too difficult to chew and swallow, with a texture similar to rubber, so I ended up sadly tossing some of it down my kitchen sink disposal. As for the ho fun entrée, it looked almost nothing like the ho fun I have seen in most other Chinese takeout restaurants. My ho fun had arrived all cut up in puny pieces. So much for that. And to be perfectly frank, all of the available beverages and drink orders on the menu are a bit overpriced, in my opinion.

Update. After being yelled atwhen I picked up the order. He proceeded to text the person who ordered on her personal phone that he got from the order sheet and berate her. If this place cannot handle making food then they shouldn’t be in business. Unprofessional manner all around and underserving of a restaurant. And very dishonorable. I will repeat the quality of food is low. Had under cooked boas, strange tofu, and that’s just a start.Disappointed. Curb side took forever despite arrive after the scheduled pick up time. Out of the food we wanted. The employees did not park well so there is zero access to the store. The food quality was lacking. It’s identified as women owned however we only spoke with Man on the phone, and a man delivery person was seen and a man brought the food to the vehicle. A man came out to the car and proceeded to yell at me because we had ordered so much food.
