Always a great place to eat!

Went today with my husband because our neighbor recommended you. Service was awful. Waitress had a terrible attitude. Never refreshed our coffee or water while we waited for food. Had to flag down another waitress for more. She poured us another cup of cold coffee. Made us feel like we were bothering her. Waited forever for our food while everyone around us was served. Even those seated & ordered after we ordered were served. Waitress was up at register talking to co-worker while our food just sat. When we finally got our food, potatoes & eggs were cold, English muffin wasn’t toasted & was cold. Basically a cold lousy meal with a bad attitude. Won’t be back!

We really enjoyed our breakfast here! The menu has a lot of interesting food options. I really enjoyed my "hash bowl", and my girlfriend enjoyed her waffle and sides. The coffee and tea options available are a huge perk over, say, the waffle shop, because they offer lattes/cappuccinos along with milk substitutes (oat, almond).Every staff member we interacted with was very friendly. We plan on coming again to try their homemade corn beef hash as well as some of their dishes involving smoked salmon/crab which piqued our interest.

It has the perfect amount of parking, somehow. A full parking lot means you'll probably get the last table and overflow parking along the road means a short wait if you need a table for more than 2. The food is great, the service is friendly, and everything is reasonably priced.

Wonderful place for breakfast. I was worried with all the bad reviews claiming false things. But after getting my food, I have to say it was a great experience. I came on the Sunday at 10 and there was about a 10 minute wait which isn’t bad. The restaurant is located on the outskirts of State College. The parking lot fills quick so people usually park on the other side of the road.Hash bowl (10/10): amazing breakfast combo. For only $10 too… such a great price and a great dish. I loved the spicy sauce and everything inside. It all worked together. Probably one of my favorite breakfast dishes I’ve ever had.Waffle (9/10): great waffle, not as good as the waffle shop though but still good.Banana bread (9/10): great. The bread was moist on the inside and had good flavors. Came out warmHome fries (7/10): average home fries, nothing special. Kinda lacked seasoningOverall, great experience. Everything came out to $30 which I thought was amazing. I’ll definitely be coming back! Probably my favorite place for breakfast now in the area.

Yum! Intimate and quaint. Great service (even on their busiest days). The Hash Bowl never disappoints. 12/10

Excellent menu selection, friendly and attentive service, and a breakfast so good I wish I could go back in time and enjoy it again. I chose the Irish Breakfast, the closest thing on the menu to what I wanted. With as agreeable as they were to swapping the toast for cheese grits, I probably could have custom built whatever I wanted. But back to my review...The egg & smoked salmon scramble was soooo yummy. But those grilled tomato slices? Wow! They took this breakfast from quite delicious to utterly delightful. And when I added a forkful of the cheesy grits--SO good!As much as I enjoy the time-tested menu for that State College breakfast standard that we all know and love, it's great to have another option with an exciting variety. Pricing is about the same.My only "meh" moments were upon seating (furnishings are a tad worn) and when I received my Americano in a standard coffee mug (thought an espresso drink might come in something a little more exciting). But neither of those detracted from my enjoyment of the meal. I'll definitely be going back!

This is a cute little place for quality breakfast. The location is a bit far from State college, almost on the outskirts. The place was fairly busy when we visited them but managed to get a seat without any waiting.I tried their waffle with fruits plus a Cafe latte. The waffle was fine and the fruits (banana, strawberry and blueberries) were fresh. The service was quick and staff were very helpful.A great location for quality breakfast.

Pros: you can find egg Benedict. Coffee is quite good. Fresh squeezed orange juice. Kind staffs.Cons: a bit slow service. Once we got foods on paper plates. Not many tables.Menu: egg benedicts are great. Home fries are kinda signature menu, but they are available only before 11am.Conclusion: this is less heavier than Waffle Shop. I will come for egg benedicts.

This place perfectly captures the “hipster spirit.” Oddly pretentious, snobby, and expensive while serving mediocre to bad food. Service was awful, the food was worse, coffee was actually pretty great.Food was almost amazingly bad, maybe we got them on an off day. The sausage gravy was weirdly sweet and had almost no sausage. It is almost impossible to ruin sausage gravy, it has literally three ingredients, but somehow they managed. Eggs were burnt. Not overdone, actually burnt.Service was also really, really bad. I get it, we had just arrived from a long trip and were dressed pretty casually, but we got first ignored and then yelled at by the barista for “waiting in the wrong place” (we were looking at the coffee menu). If you want an actual decent breakfast place, obviously Waffle Shop is great, but check out Sowers Harvest Cafe if you want to have a really great breakfast with amazing service.
