Great outdoor patio. Excellent service. Went there on a Sunday night, so not so busy, but great place to hang out with friends.
The place itself is nice, but as many here have mentioned, the staff and in particular the bouncers are completely rude for no reason. I saw them deny a 50 year old man, standing still and completely upright, because he was “too intoxicated”. Then, they refused to accept my friend’s government issued ID because he is a foreign student, even though on previous occasions at this same bar they accepted it. This isn’t a problem at any other bar in state college. The culture of Doggie’s bouncers is toxic. It also slows the line down for others because the bouncers are constantly getting into arguments with their customers.You have to be on your best behavior to get in because even the slightest glance will be perceived by the bouncer as you being rude or being drunk and they will refuse to let you in. Really ruins the experience. Better to take your business elsewhere.
Gotta go 5-stars here for Doggies, the former Rathskeller. Love the outdoor area, and a live band on a Friday night can't be beat. Decent draft beer selection, but they could do better IMO. Friendly bartenders to boot. A State College institution ?

Literally a terrible experience told two of our friends they were too “intoxicated” to come in then took all our cover money and wouldn’t return it when we didn’t even go in. A terrible bar don’t waste any of your money or time here. They will take your money from you and then just be awful to you.

I spent a lot of time at Doggie's during my time as a student, and always had a great time. The outdoor garden is especially great when the weather is nice.
Decent drinks but the rude staff ruins the experience. Nothing like the skeller! Used to love this bar but will never step foot in here again after how our group of alumni was treated. Don’t waste your time/money here.
Worst staff in State College. We frequent this bar as alumni since it’s not very popular amongst students, but their staff is rude. Not a mystery why it’s never crowded here. Many better establishments to spend your money at
The large “security guy” in the green shirt is on a power trip and makes this bar lame. Not worth your money. Not a great bar for alumni
