Pizza by Pappas is a nice, clean pizza joint near the Federal courthouse in Scranton, staffed by a friendly staff. The place was nearly empty when we arrived on a Saturday night around 6:15 p.m., but there were quite a number of people coming in for takeout.Pappas is unique in that they only serve 10“ pan pizzas with a variety of toppings. This would serve well for someone very hungry or a couple looking for a light meal. The dough is fresh and tasty, with plenty of melted cheese, so there is really no reason to order extra. I also ordered pepperoni, which was very good.Give Pizza by Pappas a try. The establishment provides a relaxed setting, with a train chugging along on tracks located around the dining room near the ceiling.
5 years and I finally tried this place. Pizza is not conventional, a bit on the greasy side but is very tasty. Also I’m assuming the grease is from the pan used to “fry” the bottom. Veggies could be cooked more but can’t before pizza burns. Overall very tasty pizza and recommend trying. They do only offer 10” personal pizzas but they are very filling.
Pappas is the 1st place I visit when I return to NEPA…even before seeing family. I know that sounds terrible but when you’re coming in from Arizona and you need real pizza that makes it pardonable. Can’t wait for next week…Pappas, here I come!
Love the pizza and tuna grinder, just tried pierogies and not a fan
They need a better pick up method for delivery drivers. They NEVER have no lines. If the food is don't and ready for pick up we shouldn't have to wait for 10 other people to order before we pick up the food!9/10 I refuse to deliver for them!
Try the Onion and Bacon Pizza, the Anchovies Pizza, the Deluxe Pizza, the Pepperoni Pizza, the Tuna Grinder, and the Italian (with onion oil and vinegar)All of themIconic!
Clean, nice atmosphere, pleasant and courteous staff.
Best tuna sub around. Friendly staff and great service
I called in asking for 5 pizzas, 4 orders of boneless wings, and a dozen side salads. I explained it for a party of 20. I asked if it could be delivered and they said "we aren't delivering today." Ok... So I picked it up. Turns out the 5 pizzas were personal pan pizzas (obviously not suitable for a party) I had no choice but to purchase due to everyone waiting for food as the party was half over. The insane part minus the fact these pies were personal was the cost totaling $126! I called another pizza place ordering the same items asking to see what the total would be. (for extra large pizzas not child pies) and the total was $118. Their food was not bad but I felt they should've pointed out that they only do personal pizzas. Especially being that I mentioned it was for a party. I will say the people were friendly which is why it got 2 stars.
I've been going here for decades and they've never let me down. Consistently good food, prices, and staff. A++
