I used to really like this restaurant at State Hill Road. Never again. In the past few years, both the food and service have been extremely disappointing each time we have gone but we've tried to give it one last shot. Tonight was the last. My son and I walked in and there was only one table with customers who were done with their food. There were four servers sitting at a table by the register who didn't even acknowledge us when we walked in and were playing on their phones and chatting. Finally, one said "how many", I told them 2 people, and then they ignored us for over one full minute and did a type of "rock paper scissors" game to see who would seat us.(!!!!) I was almost ready to walk out at this point, but figured we'd stay since my son really wanted their food. . All we ordered was the guacamole live for an appetizer and tortilla soup for our meal. The soups came in about 10 minutes or so. We started to eat our soup but no guacamole live came. At this point, we are the ONLY ones in the restaurant. We finished our soup in about 10 minutes (no one checked on us) and since still no appetizer but my son said he still wanted it even though it was late - I looked at our waitress across the room who was still sitting with the same group of people and one of them told her I was trying to get her attention. She came over and I asked her about the appetizer....she gave a blank stare, said "oh" and then said she'd check on it. TEN minutes later, no other customers in the restaurant, waitress still sitting at the same spot, never checked back with us on an update. Finally, I had to go to HER and tell her to cancel it. She peeked back in the kitchen without getting up and said "Oh, I think he's coming now" I told her it was supposed to be an appetizer, we no longer wanted it and to cancel it. We are the ONLY customers in the whole restaurant and this is unacceptable. I went back to the table. She then came to the table (for the first time all evening since we put in our order) and said "well, he WAS on they way" I told her again that we ordered it as an appetizer, we are the only ones in the whole restaurant, no one checked in and I just want the bill. She brought the bill about a minute later. In a few minutes I opened up the fold to get my money out, and just then she flew over to the table (funny--that was the ONLY time all evening she was responsive) but when she saw I hadn't pulled out the card or payment yet, she walked away. I left the money at the table, I told her the money was at the table and we left. I have never before written a negative review on a restaurant, as I know that it's not easy being in that field, but the lack of customer service, lack of responsiveness, and lack of courtesy (ESPECIALLY since we were the ONLY ones there) is just not acceptable. I understand why I have seen fewer and fewer customers there over the past few years. It's a shame but I cannot recommend this restaurant any longer. Very very disappointed.
Nice polite staff. They keep the chips and salsa coming. Our favorite is a frozen Margherita. All the flavors are great. They also have some tequila that you cannot purchase anywhere else. Favorite is tableside live Guacamole. They make it to order. They appreciate tips so have some bills ready. We go back every 2 to 3 weeks.
First time dinning here. Chose today because it's Taco Tuesday and wanted to try something new. Highly disappointed.... I ordered tacos, chicken soup and a piña colada margarita. I got no lime or creama ( sour cream) for the tacos, the margarita didn't taste anything like piña colada, and for a white cheese sauce that I would normally get on the house at the usual spot I go to, I paid $7 here. ? The two star is only because the server was very nice.
Get the shrimp nachos! They were amazing! Everything else was really good too. Waitress was friendly, place was busy on Saturday night.Live music performed by a gentleman with a guitar. Was a great experience
The food was really good, the guitar player was great, and the waitress made the experience excellent with friendly fast service. The only thing I would change is the decor. It is a bit worn out looking.
I’ve been to your location MANY times and everything’s great as far as clean and great food/cocktails. At this point though I am absolutely sick at the fact that every time we get your server Mireya, she asks to see the ID of my brother, his girlfriend, my girlfriend or I etc. anyone in the group that is young knowing that she has served us alcoholic beverages many many times at this point!! She recognize us and I have literally asked her before if she remembers us and she says yes, she knows us 100% there’s know doubt. It is absolutely ridiculous and that every time we go in there she asked to see only our IDs. Not our parents or anybody in the group that is ever older or anybody who looks older at surrounding tables I was watching her serve the whole time I was there, and again you know we get cocktails every time! This discrimination needs to be stopped immediately she knows we are all old enough she serves us every time we come in. So I’m not sure what she’s thinking when she asks to see our IDs is a firm tone and ALWAYS over analyzes it every time. Maybe she thinks we’re getting younger every visit, i have know idea. She really needs to be talked to.
The food is awesome. Staff is awesome.
Our group of eight enjoyed dinner together last evening at one of the round booths. The atmosphere was family friendly and we were able to enjoy our dinner conversation. The food was served in a timely manner and the staff was courteous and friendly. Food presentation and quality was great and Vanessa did a superb job serving us! Would definitely recommend and consider returning in the future.
great dining experience. excellent food at a reasonable price. waitress and servers were outstanding. I had the beef chimichanga which was a deep fried flour tortilla topped with a cheesy sauce, accompanied with Mexican rice, refried beans and lettuce and Pico de Gallo. my date had the shrimp enchiladas filled with sautéed shrimp, tomato sauce and Pico de Gallo topped with green and red sauce and queso fresco accompanied with Mexican rice and refried beans. both dinners were exquisitely prepared. for desert we shared some fried ice cream . I would highly recommend this restaurant
Today we ordered chicken chimichangas and on the third bite one of us discovered a huge maggot-like, ringed, worm! We tried to report this to the manager but he was not on premises. The waitress was simply going to throw it away in a napkin (after I asked her to keep it to show the manager) however we also took a photo. This will be reported to the food safety department. We are concerned for other customers and this is why I posted this. A photo is available.
