I ordered amaebi, ikura, and toro nigiri and spicy scallop maki to go.Everything was very fresh and generously portioned. They included the heads with the amaebi, which I don't always get in Pittsburgh. The toro was served in long strips, and the ikura was piled high. The scallops in the maki were in large chunks and delicately flavored (but still with a hint of heat) instead of being chopped into a mayonnaise slurry. The soy sauce and wasabi were completely unnecessary and honestly kind of detracted from everything.I'm really looking forward to making Yukiyama my go-to for sushi!
I will totally give six stars for the food! The food is very authentic and fresh. I will definitely come back here.
I found the food relatively sad. The fish wasn’t fresh, they weren’t using Japanese rice, so the sushi was off. I’m fond of katsu curry and the chicken was reminiscent of Wendy’s. Not a good overall experience, would not recommend. No where near authentic…
Some of the best of not THE best sushi i've had in the city. The people are friendly and the atmosphere is great. We will for sure be back.
Tried their sushi, fried rice. Very impressed, loved the food, I can tell the sushi was freshly made ad high quality! Fried rice they have their own recipes for, and you won't be disappointed. Good place to get your cravings satisfied, definitely going to come here more.
Wonderful meal. Our chef Chucky (not sure that is his birth name..) was brilliant, very friendly and good conversation. Couldn't fault the meal. I'll not leave it so long till the next visit.
Probably wouldn't go back again. First impressions were mediocre. Waiter came out and delivered water in styrofoam cups. The gyoza was good. The hibachi steak and chicken were both dry and lacked flavor, the fried rice was soaked with grease to the point of being a little bit disgusting. The waiter never came out except to deliver the check.
Wasn't busy on a Saturday night. Front of house staff was non-existent. Most of the tables weren't cleaned from previous diners, with dishes stacked in the middle of the table. Prices on physical menu where outdated and lower than current prices. Took awhile to be waited on and longer to be served. Duck ramen was okay.. A lot of duck skin and the egg was very overcooked. Rainbow sushi was sloppy and rolled loosely so it fell apart when grabbed. Could hear kitchen staff yelling a lot in the back. Only time waiter came to check on us was at the end of the meal to ask if we were done.. then loitered around while we prepared the check.
Food was good, but I can hear my boyfriend loading one in the bathroom after eating there. Probably food poisoning or undercooked DUCK from the intensity of the sounds..! The noodles looked like they were genuinely from the top ramen package. The waiter wearing literal chili pepper pajama pants was so incredibly rude. Never going there again!2 stars because the broth was actually pretty good!
Definitely one of the finer (and authentic) sushi restaurants in Pittsburgh! The food tastes great and the portions are right for the price. Although it’s on the higher end, you certainly get what you pay for.
