Waffallonia is a tiny, hole-in-the-wall restaurant with an absolutely amazing menu. The waffles are cooked to perfection, and their pairings of toppings are delicious. I visited with a group of friends, and we all tried the Charleroi, a perfectly golden-brown Belgian waffle topped with Nutella, banana, and strawberries. It was such a simple dish, yet so well-crafted. It was the perfect mid-day treat and will definitely satisfy your sugar cravings. While the indoor seating is limited, the decor inside Waffallonia is also delightful. I love the map of Belgium along the back wall (it makes for a perfect background for photos), and the furniture is simple, yet functional and attractive. The service was also delightful and quick.
Friends picked us up 2 orders of waffles and chocolate ice cream and milkshake for my son Sat 7/30. The waffles were so burnt and hard. Haven't had them in a while but never this bad. Milkshake was not even as good as previous visits.
- got the strawberry waffles w whipped cream, best waffle ever had in Pittsburgh! They are of very reasonable price as well compared to other desert places around squirrel hill, 10/10 would recommend :)
Tried cookie butter with cinnamon ice cream. It was okay. (Got this suggestion from a review) should try fa few more flavours. There are two small tables outside to eat there. Otherwise you can take out. Worth trying.
Walked in thinking I was going to get a FRESH waffle. I asked about its crispiness and was told it was crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Then when the young lady started to make it she took a ready made one and started to put it in the waffle maker. I stopped her and said I thought you were going to make a fresh one. She said (multiple times) It takes the same whether or not it is fresh or like this (heated). I think not.She also said this is the Belgium way. I've been to Belgium and this is NOT how their waffles are made. I think that they would be appalled. Anyway if you are like me and like a true Belgian Waffle that is crispy from start to finish ... do not go here because it is not that and it is NOT fresh.
I love this place. I will always go to get one waffle but leave with 3 or 4 because they are irresistible. I would recommend either a plain waffle or the one with whipped cream and strawberries. I love going here with my friends the staff are great and so is the food.
There's only one person working there. I got banana pudding milkshake. It was kind of dry. My husband got a strawberry milkshake and he said it tasted like vanilla.
1 word: Delicious! This place is like no other. I've tried 3 different ones and each time, it was better than last which I didn't think was possible. I truly crave these waffles when it's been awhile since I had one. Staff are very friendly and prices are reasonable. These are NOT your normal waffles. Cadillac of waffles.
If you smell fresh waffles on Murray Ave, look up and you will find yourself standing in front of Waffallonia. Its hard not to go in at least once and that is be enough to get you addicted to these freshly made Belgian waffles. They have the best freshly brewed coffee on the block. The service is great and very inclusive.
Yummy!!!! Never fails to satiate my sweet tooth. I always get the waffle with ice cream and chocolate sauce. Can't go wrong with a classic.
