Walked into the restaurant as soon as we landed in Pittsburgh to hectic energy. We were seated and werenât greeted for probably 10ish minutes. Our server greeted us and was kind but was overwhelmed and seemed new. My friend ordered gluten free and dairy free since she has allergies and the food came out about 25 minutes later with cheese all over her burger and not a gluten free bun. After the new burger was made we didnât even receive an apology from who we guessed was the manager. I also had to get up and get my own napkins because no one came by for a while. Would not recommend but would recommend more training.
I had the dragon chicken sandwich. One side was just chicken while all the sauce and cheese and peppers were on the other side. I have had the fried green tomato grilled cheese before and it was very good. I had some gi symptoms when we got home. I canât say it was due to the meal. I like the place and will be back but no grilled chicken next time.

We've been the The Yard many times before, but it has been a while. On this visit, it seems like this spot has gone down hill, unfortunately. Our server was polite but service was really slow. We were there for brunch and were told they were out of pancakes, but they had waffles.... we cook a lot at home and I can tell ya, there are more and different ingredients in a waffle than a pancake, typically, so IDK how they couldn't make more pancakes if they could make waffles.... unless they weren't making either from scratch, which led me to that conclusion. Food was ok, didn't taste bad, but most things just seemed to have been pre-cooked and combined instead of prepared fresh.
The Yard is a fun eatery with good food. The music is pretty loud in there so not the best for a large group to all hear each other. I tried the it’s always sunny in Philadelphia grilled cheese which was pretty good. The tomato soup and pretzels for appetizers were the best part in my opinion. And the beer (I got Heavy As Liquid, a wonderful sweet porter). And I was glad I substituted the chips for the salad, just to keep it a little healthy. Our server was wonderful and very attentive
