This historical building is easy to get to and perfectly hidden in Hazelwood on a back street. The atmosphere is laid back and cozy. The staff members were open and friendly. Somebody checked in on every table. We had the absolute best waitress. She was fun and engaging and very helpful. The inside is very rustic and has a log cabin homey vibe. It was so nice Saturday we ate outside under the awnings. This pub is adorable, the food and drinks are delicious and reasonably priced. Everything is well portioned and don’t leave without trying a dessert. It’s so wonderful, what they have done there. I hope it inspires other people to revitalize other sections of the city in a positive way.
Cool old building. Nice outdoor area and the bottom floor indoor has an old school old vibe. The beers are great. Food is okay. Staff very nice and attentive.
Where do I begin?????? The pub is amazing the atmosphere is awesome just as if you walked into the past to the Revolutionary time??????????????What a great dining experience ??food is incredible ?Highly recommend!!!!!!!???? Bartender Shawn and wait staff were perfect pleasant and more then willing to talk about the History of the Woods House??✌️✌️
The fish sandwich!!!! The Bread pudding!!! Cannot wait to go back. Want to try Scottish eggs. Everything was delicious. Drinks generous.
This is such an interesting place to try! The food is great quality and definitely worth the wait. I couldn't give 5 stars because of how long the dessert took to come out. It was over a half hour wait for the Bread Pudding. Otherwise, this restaurant is worth trying. Pub style food. I ordered the fish and chips as well as potato and leek soup. Portions are fairly big.
Our first time here. Seemed like a nice place …if you are a regular. Apparently this is a neighborhood bar for those from that neighborhood. The atmosphere was not welcoming, even though we made a reservation. We arrived before the dinner rush, so it wasn’t very busy, but apparently you get one entree, one beer and one water. Apologies to the server, since it seemed to be understaffed. Apparently the owner has plenty of business that he doesn’t need new patrons. Also, where do you park. Only four spaces in the parking lot. A poor first and only impression.
Friendly, if slightly inexperienced staff. Food was well executed with generous portions. Very interesting historical space, with outdoor seating also available. The neighborhood was slightly concerning depending on the route you take.
Love the original stone decor with huge fireplace. Also had a bar with more modern lighting. My Scottish Steak Pie & bread pudding were delicious!
Hidden gem in Pittsburgh. Only open on Fri, Sat, and Sun and offers Scottish food. Not many tables so get a reservation. For me, this place practically rivaled the best fish and chips that I have even had in my life on the east coast of Scotland itself. The beer batter was fantastic and made the sandwich need absolutely nothing. My wife had the bangers and mash and the gravy was truly outstanding. I highly recommend the Scottish eggs as an appraiser.
Great service, wonderful atmosphere & delicious food with a well stocked bar in a quaint setting. Don’t let the neighborhood keep you from checking it out. Well worth it!
