So first off. I haven't actually been to the coop. One of my friends lives near them and Google constantly asks me if I know this place etc.I'd love to-- but every time I've been to my friends they've been closed or renovating.I still like to imagine they have the best damn waffles though.In the interim, until I make it back Pittsburgh. Please try this place and write a review. I'll be back, someday--this is my white whale.Please be open <3
The Coop Chicken and Waffles was such a great find! As someone who has previously resided in the south, this definitely fulfilled a craving. So far I have only tried delivery (twice in one week because I could not stop thinking about how good it was!), but am looking forward to checking it out in person. I tried the chicken tenders and classic waffle - both were phenomenal and paired well together. The waffle was sweet and cake-like, you could really taste the vanilla. The chicken was crunchy and extremely well seasoned with a spicy kick, just the way I like it. The soft waffle + sweet syrup + spicy crunchy chicken is one of the best combos out there. I tried both the chipotle ranch and Coop sauce - would definitely lean more towards the Coop sauce which was essentially a flavored spicy mayo. As others have mentioned, the portions are generous. Good value for your money. Already looking forward to my next order!
The truck is amazing if you can catch the truck! In store is ok if you catch it on a good day, and staff is in good mood. Truck staff is beyond amazing! The menu has more in store to choose from the chick n waffle and cinnamon roll waffle are my fav! Chicken is good.
It's a good hidden gem. Fried chicken is some of the best fast food chicken out there. Waffles are big and hot when delivered. Good selection of waffle varieties and chicken parts.
Love that it's black owned but the chicken sandwich I got wasn't too good, chicken strips were better.
We were in Pittsburgh for 4 days and The Coop made such a great addition to our trip. We were attempting to eat somewhere in the Strip District, we missed a turn, ended up heading across a bridge so we ended up searching for a new place to eat and came across The Coop. For having a small menu, there were some hard decisions to make; we went with cheddar cornbread waffle, fried chicken thigh and a side of Mac and cheese. All were amazing. I typically have no problem finishing everything I pay for and this was a challenge! I am back home now and thinking about this meal is making me hungry!
We checked out The Coop Food Truck in one of our local neighborhoods. The menu was very limited but you can’t go wrong with Chicken & Waffles. I had the strips over a cinnamon waffle. So good! Portions are large so I couldn’t finish it. But I can tell you that it was all top quality and fresh. Service was quick and the gentleman working the window was so pleasant. Good stuff!
Mac and Cheese was bomb AF! Can’t wait to try the hush puppies. Everything is homemade too!
Had a great experience yesterday for take-out. We got the Chick-in-Waffle and the cinnamon roll waffle, both of which were absolutely delicious. The chicken tenders were cooked to perfection and the seasoning/breading was amazing and unique. This place has awesome chicken. The mac was all kinds of cheesy and stayed warm the whole walk home; we saved some for leftovers and were still raving about it the second time around! We had to wait about 30 minutes but the ladies here were working their butts off and you've got to respect a place with that kind of steady business. Hats off to The Coop and the hard-working staff that makes it possible to have quality chicken and waffles for a brunch that's sure to impress. Thank you!
