Our love affair with Teppanyaki Kyoto started almost a decade ago. We stumbled upon this restaurant when trying to experience authentic Japanese cuisine. As my husband and I are originally from Long Island NY and NYC, we had once had many restaurants that fit the bill. That changed, however, after moving to Pittsburgh. That said, none of them can hold a candle to Teppanyaki Kyoto. We have dined in restaurants with several Michelin stars and have often wondered why this restaurant has yet to earn one. They deserve it. We decided to have a meal here to get a baseline before leaving for our honeymoon in Japan, that way the experience would be fresh in our minds. There was not a single bite we had anywhere in Japan... not in Tokyo, not in the countryside... not near Mount Fuji, that exceeded the taste, preparation or quality of this restaurant. It is 100% authentic and an absolute gem. We are so lucky to have this wonderful restaurant in our city. When guests arrive from NY and beyond, this is always a MUST and our guests always request that at some point we go here for lunch or dinner. In the just under a decade we have been going to this restaurant it has ALWAYS been consistent, delicious, never a mishap or mistake, never a rude waiter or waitress and above all, we have always been welcomed for a delicious meal. Thank you.

Very good food, smaller portions then I like for the price but that's more me then the restaurant. The sauce on the dish is a little sweet for me and if I go again I would order less sauce or more mayo. The toppings I order made the dish a little boring if I go again I will order a greater variety of toppings. Overall very good and if I'm ever nearby it again I would likely return.

This restaurant came highly recommended by friends and it did not disappoint! Visited this past weekend to celebrate a family birthday and we had such a lovely time. We ordered many dishes all to share, and our server expertly coursed out the food and offered excellent recommendations. The kimchi was to die for- could have eaten an entire serving myself! Loved the silken tofu, and my brother in law said the shrimp tempura was the best he’d ever had. Can’t wait to come back! Thanks!

We had dinner here on 3/1/22. One of the worst restaurants due to low quality food and poor service. Appetizers were frozen and reheated (we had shrimp tempura - better off getting Trader Joe’s). Our entrees came out over 1 hour after ordering and my Katsu curry had large chunks of bullion powder (not mixed well). All the food is served on paper plates and plastic utensils. The waitress was also terrible: watched her turn away customers twice saying they were only doing takeout, but the restaurant was empty on a weeknight and it was before 8pm! Strongly do not recommend.

Without doubt, the best hidden restaurant in all of Pittsburgh. You'd be hard-pressed to find more Authentic Japanese food at a reasonable price. Their sake and Japanese beer selection is also quite impressive!

YOUR WAITRESS IS RUINING YOUR BUSINESS!!!We tried to come to this restaurant two weeks in a row. Both times we were rejected by the same waitress. If the restaurant can see this review, I want to tell you that this waitress is ruining your business. This restaurant seems to have only one waitress working. Last Friday we came, she told us it’s fully booked for the night. This Friday we tried to come here again early, she told us it’s fully booked again. However, from what we could see the room was mostly empty. She told us to come back with a reservation. Nowhere on their website says reservation is needed. We went outside and I called them on the phone. A guy picked up the phone. I asked whether there was any table open for the night. He said yes. Then, I could hear there was a conversation between him and the waitress. A few seconds later, I was told by the guy that they could tonight and I should come back another time. The waitress seems to be the only one that knows the situation of their reservation. She has an attitude showing that she doesn’t want to serve us. She is driving your customers away. I won’t come back, because I believe even if I could get a seat, I won’t get good service. Please either take care of your website by making the reservation system better, or take care of this waitress who doesn’t want to seat anyone.

I ordered through Postmate at 8:45pm because I was CRAVING for Okonomiyaki. (They closes at 9pm) The driver arrived around 9:40 and got the order! I so appreciate them stayed opened and waited for the driver to come and honored the order that had already been placed. The food was DELICIOUS. Thank you so much and definitely will be back!

I’ve been here before and I get we are in the middle of a pandemic, but when I order a “bento box” I expect a bento box with more food than I got! Especially when the unagi bento box was $25 and did not even come with a miso soup! Miso soup isn’t that expensive! It was not worth $8 extra for a little bit of scrambled egg, 3 slices of cucumbers, and a few pickled things. That said, our waiter was fantastic and we got great service from him, but I probably would not come back. I’ve been here before and even had alcohol last time, which I didn’t this time. Just super disappointed cuz I was just thinking I ought to bring some people there. The place is also 2/3 under renovation so there are about 6 tables open.

So I RARELY write reviews anywhere for food. I am constantly trying new restaurants and have had a large range of experiences. Not being dramatic: the yakisoba here might be the best FOOD I've eaten. It's just perfectly flavored and crafted. I'm really into noodles and this is what I've been searching for. I ordered from ubereats so I can't speak on the establishment or their service. But I know I'm absolutely ordering from here again and look forward to eating there in person as well. Wow, I'm so impressed. Thank you for the meal

I was super excited to try this restaurant. Unfortunately, I was not impressed. The flavors were there but the prices were astronomical. I paid 38 dollars for this?? Do not order take out. Stay home and make it yourself
