The food was great. Lots of fun things to try. The menu has a lot of things from a lot of different places. If you haven't been there this is my stop place. I'll definitely stop back in.

The owner is very friendly. If you are craving for Nepali thali they are the place to go. Goat meat was delicious and everything had a great flavor.

Subba is a the definition of little hole in the wall restaurant. Foodies will love it.It's these kind of places I love to find. The food is almost always phenominal- and Subba lives up to that expectation.I knew it was going to be good as soon as I smelled the aromas from the kitchen.I will definitely be back to try some of their other offerings.I ordered the goat thali and Thukpa soup. The goat thali is my favorite thing I've eaten recently. Rich, savory deliciousness from the goat meat, flavored well with the spices. The side of pickled veggies makes a good contrast to the (rich) goat, and also acts well as a pallette cleanser. With all of the sides, It's a lot of food. I should have eaten half of if and saved the second half as another meal.I didn't even get to the Thukpa soup, but I'm looking forward to eating it tomorrow.I do wish that they side orders of naan- that would have been perfect for the various sides that come with the meal.Granted, it's already a lot of food and right now I'm both very full and very happy.I ordered it to go, and sat and waited since I didn't order ahead of time. I wasn't waiting long at all- maybe about 10 minutes as it wasn't busy.I believe it's family run by a husband and wife. I didn't see any wait staff. As others mentioned the decor is dated. Here's the thing about hole in the wall restaurants: the food is great, and it's well priced. Subba is both.In perspective: This food in an updated restaurant in a nicer area should easily cost 50-75% more.If you're passionate about food like I am, I highly recommend it.

Get it To Go or Delivered! The food is delicious but the “ambiance” leaves much to be desired. I’d give it 4 stars for the food, maybe more - and 1 star for the physical restaurant itself.

There is something for everyone at this restaurant with a few Nepali and Bhutanese dishes on the menu as well as Indian curries and Chinese dishes. Nothing excellent to say but nothing bad either (for takeout). I was surprised how much the veg Datshi reminded me of potatoes au gratin but more like a spicy stew that you can have over rice. The spice comes from thin red chilies. It's definitely a cheesy comfort food. There are broccoli, bell peppers and onion and probably a little garlic in this version too. The dish is packed in foil packets nested in a larger container so it doesn't make the greatest presentation for takeout but I understand they are trying to economize. The momos were very good. Veg curry contained in a dumpling, very much like a "soup dumpling".General Tso's chicken had a great flavor, but some of the chicken was a little tough.

Momo was very good. Beef and Broccoli was dry and flavorless. Definitely not the most welcoming atmosphere walking into the restaurant, but the staff was nice.

Food is easily the best pahadi (Himalayan cuisine) food I have eaten in the last few years. Dileep is an amazing chef!!!

I’m told, by the owner, that this place has been here for seven years. As I haven’t worked downtown in all that time, I suppose I’m forgiven for not knowing. It’s upstairs at the corner of Cedar and East Ohio, but I’m also told that it’s moving to much nicer digs soon, across the street. But the variety is what attracted me to Subba…and the servings were generous, tasty, fast and, in some cases, with the Bhutanese and Nepalese options, unusual for an Asian restaurant. Highly recommended! We’ll visit again, soon, looking forward especially for a ground floor location.

Classic mom and pop environment, really wonderful people. Food is damn good.I always get the Nepalese or Bhutanese food, that seems to be their strong point. The Momos are just incredible. The Thali and Datsi are super great as well. Possibly my favorite restaurant in Pittsburgh.

Phenomenal food. Very mom and pop vibe. The Bhutanese and Nepali Food is their strong suit for sure. Best momos I've ever had. I wish that sauce was bottled bc I'd buy so much.
