Great food, a wide range of selections that are NOT your normal fare. All sorts of middle east food on the menu. Select off the prepared foods if you are in a hurry, or get food made to order. If waiting for your order, go next door to Salem's market. Lamb, goat, chicken, spices galore, multiple kinds of rice and lots of fun to browse.
Absolutely a restaurant highlight of our week in Pittsburgh. Made sure we recommended the place to Nonna after we left. We got chicken biryani with some tandoor chicken from the cafeteria-style steam table. The food was inexpensive and delicious. We also had a couple two-bite-sized pistachio baklava. Will go back on any return trip to Pittsburgh.
This place has the most delicious fresh food . The chicken tiki marsala is the best . As was the lamb and goatThey also offer hamburger and fries .The portions are huge ,they're always busy ,but never make you wait long. Food is fresh and they offer so many delicious desserts and drinks .
Place is unreal. Best quality Indian/halal food I've had and they give massive portions. You can easily get 3 meals out of one platter. Highly recommend the spicy goat curry and spinach paneer.
Great food and even greater staff at this halal place. Catered to a lot of ethnicities. The food was tasty and the serving size was more than adequate.
Beyond amazing! This is a must go to spot, For authentic and delicious food!!!!
2 of the best things here are :1) Tandoori chicken leg - Almost as authentic as what I used to have in Delhi, India. I wish there was some option to make that extra spicy and also get the whole tandoori chicken and not just the leg quarter.Indian restaurants in Pittsburgh and other places in the US should learn from them how to make tandoori chicken.2) Whole chicken cut : small chicken without skin (~2.8 lbs) - perfect for making homemade chicken curries. Also, they have a nice parking lot
Amazing! Fresh off the grill, tandoori, or curries and biryanis, everything is great. And the portions are huge. Go here.
So we have been hearing a lot of buzz about Salems especially with them moving to our Hill District neighborhood soon. So we finally decided to give it a try. 1st I must say everyone we came in contact with was super polite & helpful excellent customer service! We ordered the Chicken Tikka Massala with the Biryani rice, Gyro, 1 order of Chicken & 1 order of Beef Samosas. My fiancé loved the rice! & he's very picky about his rice, the chicken was just ok. The gyro wasn't really hot, the meat wasn't that good, it tasted like frozen gyro meat & the veggies on it weren't fresh. Now to the Samosas.... I couldn't wait to try these! That's the 1st thing I bit when we got home lol & let me tell you, they were DELICIOUS!!! OMG ? They were made to order & still hot when we got home. They were crispy & flaky on the outside & full of flavor on the inside! The chicken was great but the beef was delightful! (I didn't take a pic of the beef Samosa bitten because I had to hurry & take a pic so I could eat more of the chicken one)? I can't wait to go back just to get more of those! Thank you Salems & welcome to the Hill District!!
Wonderful food and great owners.! They treated the boys and families on our basketball team to lunch after we played their son’s team at Duquesne. It was incredibly generous, and totally appreciated. The hummus, gyros and kebabs were delicious. We will make Salem’s a must-visit when we come to the Strip. Thanks again for the hospitality and great food.
