My grandfather is Polish ~ so I grew up eating pastries and dishes he would create. 6 years after he passed away, I finally came back up to Pittsburgh to visit my grandmother. It was nostalgic to dive into the Polish demographic and food culture, here, at S&D Polish Deli. I couldn't remember the last time I had perogies and they're just as amazing as I had remembered.Things you should know:I. PARKINGThere's street parking but spaces are scarce and fill by noon.II. This is a great little Polish deli and grocery. I grabbed some kielbasa and pierogies to eat at the little tables outside while while people biked down Penn Avenue. Parking can be a little crazy. But you'll need to walk off that kielbasa anyway! I didn't have a chance to buy any groceries. But they had a good selection!
I can't say enough good things about this. Kielbasa, stuffed Cabbage, pierogies, Cabbage and noodles are outstanding. The staff is friendly, accommodating and out of this world. Phenomenal Polish food.
Amazing stuffed cabbage. Great store. Looking forward to making this a regular stop with each visit to Strip District.
To go was pretty sold out because we got there so late on Sunday. Ended up with prune pierogies (would have gotten savory, if available). But they were delicious.
Stopped here the other day for the first time in a couple years and I see a good bit of the setup has changed inside. I imagine this is due to covid. However they still had vodka chocolates and my favorite black forest kielbasa.
Great little place and great food. Stuffed cabbage, perogi, and potatoe pancakes. Just delicious. Lots more of course but my favorites. For someone who has not been back to Pittsburgh for a long time, food like this is what I miss.
Great service. Pierogis from the warmer were good, but I bet they're better fresh or taken out and cooked at home. Wasn't a fan of the smoked sausage sandwich but the kraut was great
The perogies are fantastic. Also came home with sausage and some otherwise hard-to-find groceries. Love stopping in when I'm in town.
The folks were great ! And the products were very very good, highly recommended.
