The food was fine, people were pleasant to deal with. Took over an hour for eggs and bacon w toast, a little crazy. And they only take cash so I will not be back. I think it's unfortunate that a restaurant type business doesn't recognize that cash is gross and a lot of people are choosing to not do business w cash only restaurants for that reason.
Low price. We just had dessert. Better know for breakfast. The location and building are decently cool. Lots of parking. I've had breakfast there many times late night, was always good.
Bob and I love Ritter’s.
The food was amazing!!! The service was quick and friendly—even when they were so busy!!! And good coffee
What a lousy experience. We were in the area so decided to stop here for dinner. First off, the service was lousy. No one said hello, server never asked us if we wanted a refill on our water, when the food finally arrived she never came back to check on us, had to ask for the check, and when cashing out the older fellow (owner perhaps?) Never ask how things wereI got the hot roast beef sandwich. Although it was good it was a warm roast beef sandwich. My friend got the honey dipped chicken. It was overcooked. The breading was hard like a shell and the meat was dry. The home fries were cold and the salad small with maybe a tablespoon of dressing. Here's the kicker, the price on the menu was scratched out. When he got his bill it was almost $15 !!!!If you look at all my other reviews I pretty sure you'll find that this is my first 1 star review. So that should say something. We'll never be back
What else do you need besides a diner bacon cheese burger in your life? Maybe a good doctor. You will not have to go far as most of Shadyside is a hospital these days. This diner is a Pittsburgh diamond and anyone who has enjoyed the food, staff and community of this business will tell you a similar story - I am simply an echo chamber of positivity for Ritter's Diner. The best part? The vintage record/CD players installed at each booth throughout the restaurant so that you can transport yourselves back to 1989 without stretching those precious brain muscles too much.As always, thanks for having me! Stay Friendly.P.S. Ritter's is very LGBTQIA date friendly.
This place feels like, smells like, tastes like HOME!!! The people here feel like family and you're just sitting in the dining room with family members you haven't met yet. Must go!!
Amazing steak & eggs with perfectly crisped home fries. The staff have been great each visit. Nice diner, inexpensive food and great portions. Definitely worth a trip!
This diner has been on a “we should stop there one day” list for 20 years. Finally did this evening and am very pleased to have done so. Pretty well maintained and cleaned 50’s diner complete with working juke boxes at some of the tables. Servers were pleasant but not overly attentive, but I prefer that. I just love a good hot sandwich, Turkey, meatloaf, roast beef, and ordered the turkey. It was exactly what I hope for in a good solid old school diner hot sandwich. Nice slices of Turkey with a classic gravy and homestyle mashed potatoes. Also had the coleslaw which was pretty great with another classic presentation and a sweet vinegary dressing. Had to go for the fresh baked pies, apple bu suggestion. Really good apple pie! This was a pleasant and relaxing dinner experience. Will defiantly be returning soon
I had a simple breakfast of eggs and home fries and toast with coffee. The restaurant was very clean and the service was quick. Breakfast was inexpensive. .
