I would give it 2 and a half if I could...So we'll start with a disclosure of - Yes, I understand that this is an American Chinese restaurant. Regardless of what the signs say. There are authentic restaurants in the area, but, Red Tea House needs to cater to your average suburbanite's view of "Chinese food". Got it. With that said..When I saw they had peanut sauce wontons, I thought, perhaps, there's some nice Fujianese dishes here. That's an unusual dish for a strip mall Chinese place. The peanut sauce wontons were okay. It really was like peanut butter, more than a sauce made with peanut butter. Not great. Won't be getting that again. Also ordered the Yue Yang Beef since it was described as a crispy shredded beef. I was hoping for more of a stir fry, but what I got was the battered and deep fried strips you'd probably expect to get in an Orange Beef. Covered in a brown sugar/salt sauce. Precisely what I didn't want.I'm not above ordering General Tso's chicken. Far from it. I'm usually the guy arguing that "yes, there is General Tso's in some true Chinese Cuisine". But I wasn't really in the mood for the overly sugary and overly salty American Chinese food.It could be my fault in hoping the restaurant would be more than it was. We'll go again, so it's not a horrible place. I just think you just have to have the right expectations going in.
I’ve had classic Chinese dishes and Thai dishes (curry) here. All have been excellent, well priced, & great portions. Highly recommend!
Just ordered a meal on Grub Hub from this restaurant. It was lacking everything. No flavor. No salt for crying out loud and definitely not spicy. We got a pad Thai, black pepper chicken and a crispy spring roll. Not one of the items was tasty. Ugh!!!
We found this place by accident, as we were looking to try a new Sushi place. Several places were closed (Sunday). We ordered Sushi and garlic chicken to go. Sushi was super fresh, garlic chicken was really tasty. Service is excellent! We have been there twice since.
Very nice meal at Red Tea House. Quiet atmosphere. Attentive server. We ordered several dishes to share for the table and each was flavorful: eggplant with garlic, cashew shrimp, Buddha Vegetables , Shrimp Lo Mein, Scallion pancakes, egg drop soup and a spring roll. Not too spicy, but the server did ask how spicy we wanted them and we said "very little" as some at the table did not like spicy food while others wanted it very hot. Noticed a very busy delivery and take out business too, which is nice to see for this long-time local restaurant. Parking was easy, right in front of the restaurant and access easy.
Not happy at all. I got chirashi bowl, amount was ridiculously small for price. Also got beef skewers appetizer. No flavor, very tough. Got Thai basil beef, no flavor at at, asked for it extra spicy. Wasn't spicy in any way, mostly zucchini and mushrooms. Definitely not made correctly. My sister had Mei fun. Tasteless, no flavor Also. Never again, way to overpriced for bland, no flavor food
Great sit down service! First time we dined here so first judgement was good. Tried an old favorite, General Tso Chicken, which was sweeter and more tangy than I prefer. I like it spicy. Soup was very good. Will be back to try again.
Great Place for delivery or pickup. They always do a great job packing my order and I have never had a problem with missing utensils, napkins, sauces or fortune cookies. They are a bit pricey compared to most, but well worth it if you are looking for an easy meal to pick up on your way home from work.
Server and employees are so nice! We came for dinner and got the beef noodles and chicken, it was enough for 3 people. Their portions are huge. Server came to fill our water every time it was empty. Prices are fair. I would recommend to anyone.
Server was amazing. We got orange chicken, beef Lo mein. Their portion was big. Sushi fresh huge. Reasonable prices. Definitely coming back. I would recommend anyone!
