We had the pad Thai and the see yew. Both are amazing. The spiciness is 1 to 5... I got 3. It's nicely spicy.
Since moving to Pittsburgh in January this year, I have been to Noodlehead 3 times and I would go back again for the fantastic, well executed and reasonably priced dishes (for the area). So far I have had the Sukothai (twice) the Pulled Pork Belly Steam Buns and the Chiang Mai Curry. Having read the other reviews with many raves and some “meh”s, I suspect your enjoyment of the food will depend on whether you pick something that matches your preferred flavor profile. I personally love sour in my food, and I adore the Sukothai and its “spicy lime broth” (not pictured because apparently on both occasions I devoured my meal). I am also a big fan of the pork buns - nothing fancy, just perfectly cooked and seasoned pork with a bit of pickled veg and cilantro in a pillowy soft bun. I would get these again and again, if not for the fact that 2 buns and a Sukothai is personally too much food for me (and for me, there’s never any leftovers of the Sukothai). If you like sweetish, peanuty curry, you will probably enjoy the Chiang Mai Curry noodles (there’s a picture!). For me, it was a bit heavy to have in one go, I took away half and enjoyed it at home with some additional home cooked small bok choy (delicious). I will go back again, to have the Sukothai and also slowly work my way through the rest of the menuAs other reviewers mentioned, Noodlehead is cash only.
Pretty overhyped. Pulled pork baos were very flavorful but tiny. Beef soup was alright; beef was tough and chewy and noodles slightly soggy. Chicken noodle dish was the opposite; chicken was crispy but bland and noodles were stiff. Waiters were rude, almost throwing dishes in front of us. The food is filling but for the price, go to Ramen Bar.
Food looks amazing here, but the taste is not there. Not authentic tasting food. Every noodle dish had a sour taste to it. Great atmosphere though. The description said tender beef for the beef soup, beef was dry and chewy.
This restaurant is amazing! If you don’t know it already they only accept cash! They have an atm in the restaurant at your convenience but at a 2.50 charge so make sure you stop at your bank or accept the fees. I didn’t know before entering. However the food was hot, fresh and you can BYOB! There is also a bar next door per sets on they charge 75 cents if you BYOB.
I would give this place 3.5 stars instead of 4 but since Google maps doesn't have this feature I'll round it up to 4.Let's get the bad things out of the way first.1-How in 2022 does a place not have contactless payment?? I don't carry cash with me all the time, sometimes I only carry my phone and pay for things with Google pay. I went inside and someone in the group noticed the payment was cash only. They have an ATM machine inside but chances are this isn't your bank's ATM.2- I moved from NY, over there you have to be vaccinated to dine indoors. All people working at the restaurant should also be wearing masks. I'm not sure how things are in Pittsburgh. Some of the people working had masks on, others did not. The person who took our order did not have a mask on.3- The bathroom is very clean but very dimly lit.For the good things now:1- The food is great!2- The prices are very affordable.3- The vibe is very nice.4- People working were very friendly and offered very good advice when asked about the food.5- The place is located in a good area with good parking around or a nearby bus stop.
Fantastic noodle dishes and more! We had a great lunch and prices are reasonable. The Chiangmai Curry is my favorite.
Fantastic place to have tasty food without hurting your wallet ?. I have been eating here for years and is never disappointed with food. Service is descent. Ambience is great with mostly young crowd from univs.
Always good quality, delicious and prepared to order. The small menu doesn't change, but can add or delete ingredients and specify the level of spiciness. My only complaint over the years is that they don't offer a fresh salad as a side dish.People come for their favorites and the pleasant informal vibe. A great lunch at a very reasonable price!
Cash only (but ATM with $2.50 fee is available within the store). They can get busy, but the service is always quite good. The host wonderfully managed the queue while seating parties efficiently. The Thai fried chicken (comes separate or included with Street Noodle #1) is delicious!
