I ordered food and drinks at the bar but was told I had to leave my credit card “to run a tab” before I even ordered. No other patrons at the bar had this happen to them. Also the happy hour margaritas was watered down and the spicy Buffalo sauce was all spice with no flavor.
Such a disappointment. They have a great name and location but execution was horrible. I paid $4.75 for broken chips and canned tomatoes. And we got sick the next day to boot.
Chicken chimi was delicious! We also ordered a grilled chicken salad however that was slightly undercooked. Service was great.
The flavors of their salsa and sauces was punchy and good, but I wasn’t impressed by my meal as a whole. I got the Mahi Mahi grilled tacos, and the fish was dry and cold. It had probably been sitting around awhile. Fish should not be chewy or stick to your teeth. In terms of atmosphere, it was a fun place and would be better with a few drinks in you. For an old guy like me it was way too loud. I couldn’t hear my dinner companion talk, so conversation was a matter of guesswork.
I've never been to a Mexican restaurant where you don't get chips and salsa for free. $4.75 is entirely too much in my opinion even with the inflation nowadays with the inflation nowadays for a bowl of chips and a container of salsa. The waitress was not that friendly sorry I didn't catch her name. And the drinks were way overpriced and terrible me and my boyfriend both got frozen margaritas and I don't even know what they were made with besides the cheapest tequila out there. And my sister got a glass of sangria but it had to have been grape juice with the cheapest vodka put in it. Wouldn't have even given it one star but when you do a review Google makes you
Has a peculiar outside decor, but nonetheless interesting. Inside seemed a little dingy but we didn't let that deture us from being seated. We had a trainee waiter which was fine, but he couldn't grasp the importance of drink refills (probably nervous). We ordered chips & salsa as an appetizer but I thought it was weird they didnt offer those as a courtesy, as most Mexican restaurants do. I got a chicken burrito & my bf got steak fajitas medium rare. We didn't have to wait too long for our meals. My burrito was yummy & it was a very BIG burrito, so I was pleased. My boyfriends steak was overdone, but it came out sizzling with all the fixings. I thought the portion size could have been bigger for the fajitas however. Overall, the meal was good, hot, & satisfying. One of the wait staff stopped my bf to ask how the trainee did, which I commend because that shows they care about their staff being trained properly and follow up on such matters. So overall, it was an enjoyable dinner.
If I could do zero stars I would. Let me start by saying you'll stand around forever waiting for somebody to actually notice you standing there. Spent 34$ on 2 orders of loaded nachos.. HORRIBLE. the chips was stale barely edible. Shredded cheese for nachos instead of nacho cheese even after specified I wanted nacho cheese. Nothing loaded about them. Meat beans and jalapenos?? 34$ not worth it at all. Never will be back. Had 3 chips in the bowl that was different colors then the others (like literally grey) dark grey.
We used to come here ALL the time (robinson one) and then a couple of years ago it started to go downhill. Please keep in mind that I have never sent anything back at a restaurant.... not once. Came in today because I had a free birthday burrito email and really wish I hadn't. Ordered a regular margarita on the rocks and it tasted like a glass full of lime juice. I've had many margaritas in my lifetime and never had one taste this bad. Sent it back and got a frozen strawberry one and it was okay at first but the more I drank I realized it did not taste like there was any alcohol in it. Anyone who used to come to Madmex a lot knows what their margaritas used to taste like... tequila! Got my burrito and the shrimp turned to liquid in my mouth and some of the rice was crunchy. Again, having cooked and eaten shrimp many times I know what it should taste like. I'm not even sure what could've caused this. Sent that back and got the dance marathon instead which was always my go to. That one was pretty good, but I had completely lost my appetite by the time I got it. If it weren't for the nice waitress we had, I feel like I would have just walked out. She was so patient and said the manager was supposed to come over, but never did. We were still charged for everything except what was sent back and my birthday burrito. Not that I was by any means expecting anything, but it just shows how little management cared about the gross food and drink that they offered no compensation. This is probably why the place was near empty and if they do not fix these problems then they are going to go out of business soon.
Generous portion sizes. Staff was friendly but slow. Food was ok, nothing too amazing. The decor and atmosphere left us desiring more. You have to pay for chips and salsa...cheap!
Good friendly staff and great Mexican food……..hmmm……..ok………..What else you want ???!!!!!!!
