This place used to be good but now it’s absolutely garbage. The chicken came soggy and they put the banana pudding (COLD) in the bag with the HOT chicken. On top of that the pudding is at LEAST a week old and they don’t pay attention to the expiration dates because the vanilla wafers on top we’re delivered to me so hard and old they were just crusty and tasted awful. Plus I ordered a few nights ago well before closing and they never confirmed my order and when I called to check they just didn’t pick up. I called 5 times in the span of 15 minutes and they just let it ring
We just pulled in there, it is 9:44. It says it’s suppose to be open until 11 so it says.My husband says he always tries to go there but it’s never open. I’m not sure what that is about. But how disappointing as a pregnant woman to look this up online to then drive there cause they say they are open and they are closed.
I have been eating here for over 15 years. I went there the other day and had my first bad experience. I think they might be under new management. They changed the French Fries, they used to have the best fries now they are nasty. The cat fish nugget taste like they used a new recipe that I am not a fan of( it tasted Eggy). To top it all of they gave me old chicken! It was hot but it was dried out. It taste like they had old chicken, put it back in the fryer to heat it up and gave it to me. I had the worst indigestion ever. This was my favorite place, but the food is no longer good to me.
Coworker ordered for work luncheon. We all really enjoyed. I went back a few days later for dinner. Love the chicken and service was great.
I usually have good experiences with this location. The guys are pretty friendly, if you choose to make conversation with them! They're very punctual with their service, and the food always tastes great! I bring my clients here from time to time and they love it!!
The taste is so different, its just good. Whenever I get a little extra money from working I stop in here and spend my extra money it is that good.
Depends on when you go I'm thinking. My first visit was amazing, the jumbo shrimp I had were prob the best I've had in pgh! My husband also loved the chicken tenders meal, and the small, 4 pieces, is enough for at least 2 meals. Feels closer to a chicken breast than a tender! My second visit, less than a week later because it was that good, was even better since I removed the 'sides' and just went to town on 10 jumbo shrimp for a similar price. Today was completely different, about 10 days since my 2nd visit. It's pricey but worth it if you get what you want. Might have been a language barrier but they wouldn't not give me the sides and it seemed way more expensive than what I got the last 2 times. The shrimp was still amazing, they bread on the spot when ordered, but the experience this time is what changed my review that would have been 5 stars to 3. I'll definitely try again but it's two strikes and out when it comes to food, even though amazing food, customer service is also extremely important. They weren't rude or anything, just felt like a completely different experience which left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Not at all caused by the food!!
Fish was still raw. Chicken undercooked as well. Fries soggy and nothing had seasoning.
Best chicken and fish. Tried almost the entire menu. If you're craving fried food, this is the place to go. Food never tastes greasy. Favorites include fried shrimp, hush puppies, chicken tenders and catfish nuggets, a must. Don't forget the homemade desserts. We drive 45 minutes 1 way weekly. Highly recommend.
The seasoning on the fish and fries was good, but the fish was overcooked, the order took forever to get and the French fries were cold.I have had Hook at other locations, and this one just was not up to my expectations after visiting other locations.
