Hokkaido reminds me of my high school years living with my mom. We fought a lot, sometimes we didn’t talk to each other, but my mom was, and still is my best supporter. Some days I just asked my mom to go Hokkaido, and she would always say yes and drive thirty minutes for me. Yesterday was the first time in four years that I have stopped by Pittsburgh since I left for college. This time, I was by myself because my mom went back to Korea and the rest of my family are in Korea. I ate quietly, and looked around the place while eating, thinking about where we sat when we were here. It’s so cliche, but after all those boring and mundane days has past, I only realized that those good and relaxing days spent with my mom is never coming back. Hokkaido may not be the best quality sushi buffet, but I can picture my mom’s love towards me whenever I think about the place.
Sushi was great! Overall, great experience. Expensive as far as buffets go, $23/adult dinner.
On a scale of romances to documentaries, Hokkaido Seafood Buffet is a spicy romance where the hero gives the heroine everything she wants and more. With a buffet that stretches across two long walls of the restaurant, selections include a number of Chinese dishes that are often favored by Americans. I was delighted by the spread of freshly made sushi, and you have the chance to build your own stir-fry as well. Word to the wise, they have ice cream by the desserts! If you're craving sushi and Chinese dishes, Hokkaido Seafood Buffet is for you.The parking lot is slightly confusing because you need to go in via the intersection with the light, and then you'll wind down behind the restaurant before coming to the front.
Restaurant is clean, organized, and about taking care of the customers and their business. The food is delicious, plentiful and a variety of selections. Because your selection is already cooked and made available, they request you not waste food by being greedy. You will be charged a fee for wasting food. I totally understand and agree. Come with an appetite and don't be afraid to try something new. Great atmosphere and customer service. Won't harm if they could brush up on English language a little.
The management is the rudest I have ever experienced. They wanted to add extra charges to my bill when I could not finish my plate of food. They came to my table demanding why I did not finish the plate and said I must take it home with me. There was a dirty plate sitting on top of the unfinished food. I explained I have an illness that makes me sick time to time, I live a hour and a half away, and that I had a doctors appointment. I continued to tell them I felt very sick. The staff continued to harass me, would not give me my bill promptly when asking, and yelled at me to get out and never come back. I have never felt so humiliated and I definitely will not return.
Have tried various oriental buffets in the Pittsburgh area and I think this is the best and most reasonable that I have found over the years. Great selection of dishes with lots of seafood. Lots of types of sushi. Food could have been a little hotter in temperature but was okay as this is a common problem at buffets. Very clean interior and wonderful servers. Convenient parking. Looking forward to returning with family. Senior discount available.
My wife and I like to travel a couple times a year to have dinner here. It’s a 2 hour trip for us but we always loved the food here so it was worth it. We’ve been doing it for years and always loved this place but last night when we got there we found no crab legs in the buffet. We then found out they took them off the buffet and now charge by the pound! To top it all off they jacked the price of the buffet up also after removing the main attraction of the buffet. For that kind of cash I’ll go to a steak house from now on.
Great place with delicious Asian food! I ate like 4 plates worth of food!
Great variety of food, especially seafood. Excellent value and the staff are friendly.
We stopped in for dinner, asked for the buffet, got seated ordered drinks then went to get our food.Came back to our table and there was a plate of crab legs sitting there. The waitress eventually came and said they were "free". Well neither of us eat crab so we said no thank you and she took the plate away. When we get our bill I realized we were charged for the "holiday special". Which is not what we ordered. We were later told that they were only having the "holiday special". Basically what should've been a $45 dinner ended up costing us close to $70. You don't raise you prices for one night and call it a special.
