Everything about this place was wonderful - the food fabulous, the decor beautiful and unique and the staff were great!

So creative, beautiful, and of course delicious! We will absolutely be returning! The crab dip and beef tataki were favorites of the night, but everything was spectacular. Sitting at the counter and watching the masterful chefs work was also a true treat.

Wonderful experience - we really enjoyed all aspects of our dinner. The service was great and Heather provided exceptional knowledge about the menu. The food and cocktails were perfect and we had a great evening.

As I probably wrote the last time I was at the restaurant Gi-Jin is straight up excellent. All of the dishes we had were different than the ones we had the last time and they were all just as good. The sashimi fish is incredibly fresh. And the prepared dishes are both beautiful and delicious. The servers are terrific and the bar service is creative and extensive. It might be good if they looked into some soundproofing as the decibel level in the restaurant is over the top, but we understood that it is a problem as in many old buildings. My only ‘complaint’ about the restaurant is that it is almost impossible to get a reservation even months in advance or before 9:15 PM and if there are only two of you, you must sit at the counter. While the DeShantz restaurant group is rethinking the opening of Butcher & The Rye, I was wondering if there was any way of using one of the levels of Butcher’s space to expand the seating at Gi-Jin???

The food at Gi-Jin is absolutely amazing. Fresh, creative, delicious!

Very nice place with excellent food and service. A little pricey but that was expected. Worth the trip.

Gu Jin is our favourite Pittsburgh restaurant. The fresh sashimi, creative hand rolls and beautiful presentation stand put, and the service is excellent.

Fantastic experience and great food! Each piece of nigiri sushi is made with a subtle flavor that accents the natural flavors of the fish. Strongly recommend the seared fatty salmon belly. The qualities of the fish are a accentuated in such a way that it's reminiscent of a nicely grilled pork belly. You need to try it to understand but you surely won't be disappointed. The regular salmon nigiri and the scallop nigiri are also very good. The octopus was a pleasant surprise as well. The maguro was also excellent but be warned that the caviar gives this piece an additional briny taste. It's a very good flavor but stronger towards a seafood taste than some might expect. The miso soup was very flavorful and mushrooms added a nice savory flavor and texture. If you want a miso soup with a little more pizzazz, you won't be disappointed. All the accoutrements were fantastic as well. Great vibe there. Excellent, very friendly staff and wonderful service. It's easy to see why it's hard to get reservations here.

The quality of that fish!!! Wowow. Everything was amazing. Really enjoyed the meal just wish there were more tables to get in faster but it was worth the wait!

Disappointing. Sushi was bland and tasteless, and fell apart rather easily. Had more trouble getting a substitution on one sushi item due to an allergy than we have ever had at any other sushi restaurant, anywhere. Hand rolls weren't particularly good. Non-sushi food items were pretty good, though. Service was erratic - had one good waitress and one with an attitude.
