We only tried the strips and waffle fries - will have to go back for the beignets! All were quite good and very fresh.. The chicken was maybe a little too fresh, as it was dripping in scalding hot oil that soaked the bag and made it hard to eat for a few minutes.. But it was very crisp and tender nonetheless. We were initially nervous about their spice rankings because of the names (and based on our experience at Chikn), but found a 2 here to be more of a 1. It might just depend on who is working that day.Main complaint was that the tables inside were super sticky, like the wood finish got messed up with cleaning products.
Great little spot for fast and delicious chicken. The spice levels get hot in a hurry. So be prepared if you’re someone who doesn’t like super spicy food. But it’s always delicious.
Just got back from Chicago which has Do-Rite Donuts & Chicken - a very similar place. In case you’re curious, their spicy chicken sandwich with mayo, lettuce, and pickles costs about $6. So yes—you are being ripped off here. Guess I’ll check out Wings Over and the soul food joint next.
Came here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. Placed our order and waited no more than 10 minutes for our order, which was a sandwich the chicken tenders, and some fries. We took our order to go, and ate it at a park about 10 minutes later. The food was definitely freshly-made, which helped its quality quite a bit, but the seasoning was a bit lacking. We both got the Level 2 spiciness, but it just didn't register with when eating (maybe we should have gotten Level 3?).
This place makes me sad because I love chicken, but I ordered from DoorDash or Ubereats (can’t remember which one) and it took forever. When we got our food items were missing, things were extremely soggy, and my chicken was rubbery. It was so bad I don’t want to give it a second chance. It seems unfortunate as people either love this place or have bad experiences.
I ordered a 5 pc tenders and some fries. The inside smelled like cleaning products and was a bit stuffy. No problem - it was a nice day out so I waited outside the door. Whenever I got my order, I had a few fries and they were lukewarm at best. I went back to see if they could get me something that was at least warm, and they went to the back and brought me back another batch of fries (another very small amount) that were the same temperature. It’s like they went to the back and brought back the fries that they gave me before.
I honestly wish I wouldn’t have had to give them one star. Customer service there was ridiculous! None whats so ever. It took them 3 try’s to get my order right. I wasted a hr of my time waiting. I then asked for a drink and was told no. I then said what about a water cup because at this time I should have been at the gas station getting my drink to go with my sandwich I had ordered from them. I was then told no, are they remaking your food! I replied by saying yes then was told most likely no you can’t have a drink then!! I’m like no way! I been here for a 35 mins at that point because my meals were wrong. So the order comes out, we leave then noticed we was one sandwich down! After all that they didn’t even give me all my food. I will never go back and I don’t care about the taste of the food. This was our first time there and the customer service wasn’t up to par for me! Definitely disappointed.
Are kidding me? THIS SANDWICH IS MY FAVORITE FOOD IN THE CITY. Had a bad experience at the south side location - however I just had a religious experience in East Liberty. Get the deluxe, just get it.
What makes me sad is the food is good. But, they allow you to choose curbside pickup when you order, but when you get there they tell you no they won't bring it out. AND, there's no parking unless you happen to get lucky as you drive around the block. You shouldn't say you do curbside, then take a customers money and say no you have to come in. Had I known they stopped curbside I would've never ordered because the parking is just terrible there. I ended up parking 4 blocks aways on dark side streets.
Every meal I've had here has been fire... Literally. I love spicy food and chicken sandwiches and this place is the perfect combination of the two. I make it a point to stop here every time I'm in the area. Highly, highly recommended!
