My first visit here will likely be my last based on the chicken tenders. It’s crazy to me that anyone could ever consider these worthy of serving. They got the cheapest pre-sliced Sysco chicken they could find, the kind that smell like raw sewage when you open the case of them. They don’t appear to have been soaked in any sort of buttermilk or anything, the insides just tasted like water. The batter was almost nonexistent and had no flavor at all. Most of the crispy bits that should have been attached to the tender were floating at the bottom of the bag. The tenders were tough to chew because they chicken was so cheap. There was no crunch at all. You really had to rip them apart, it was very unpleasant. I got the “hot” sauce which turned out to be a really weak attempt at a Nashville hot, it wasn’t great but was still the only thing that kept the tenders from being completely inedible. All in all these were probably the worst chicken tenders I’ve ever had and it blows my mind that this restaurant has been able to stay afloat with food this rough.
Ordered extra spicy chicken sandwich to go with no mayo and light pickles. 25 minutes later I get a tray. I say I asked foe it to go and the cook argues that none of the orders said to go. Anyways I get my food and it's plain unseasoned chicken with mayo and 4 pickles. I tried to call the location back but their number listed on their website says "sorry the number you've called cannot be completed as dialed" so I couldn't even call them about it. I called a different location and told them about it and they said there's nothing they can do about it. I live 20 minutes away and I don't have the time to drive all the way back for it, but what a waste of $15. First and last time eating here
This place has all the things I dislike in restaurants. You have to order on a computer screen or app. I then waited 20 minutes for my food. When I got it I was missing two items.When I finally got everything the food was not very good. The chicken sandwich was tasteless. It was not seasoned nor did it taste like chicken.It is basically cafeteria food that costs twice as much with a staff that does not want to talk with you.
Glad to see that the business warranted a second location! It is well deserved. Bird On The Run is easily the best chicken sandwich I've ever had. I'm glad that the waffle fries came back;
Large portions. Sauce could have been a little hotter. Also, the chicken is super juicy. It was fully cooked but any more juicy and it wouldn't have been good (to me). Next time will ask for spicier sauce and have them cook the chicken well done.She got tendies. I got nuggies. Waffle fries were large order.
I stopped there today for my first time ever. It also will be my last time! The chicken sandwich wasn't bad. However it was nothing that I would rush back for! The fries were the biggest disappointment they looked so good those big waffle fries until I bit into them and they were still cold and didn't even taste like they were ever cooked! Maybe it's just me maybe I'm just picky maybe it was the way my grandmother raised me I'm sorry anything that I see in the kitchen should be clean the bottom of that freezer refrigeration unit that you can clearly see from the window is a shame take the time to clean what your customers can see.
I was truly hype to try this place.It was very underwhelming. Chicken was good except the fact that there was so much oil it leaked through the bag they put them in and the big bag they hand to us. Also the sauces we ordered with our chicken tenders and nugget were not in there. Imagine the disappointment when we got home. It was too late to go back.Anyway I don’t believe we will go back there again. Which is sad cause My husband runs there quite often at night to get me an insomnia cookie and I’m a chicken feen.
Dear Lil' Chunky's Deluxe at Bird On The Run,It's been 2 days since we've spoken or seen each other. When we were together, it felt so right. I miss the way I would hold you. I wish you knew how much you meant to me. Our last conversation was a bit spicy (Level 5), and I know this all my fault. I think about you all the time. Your pickled green tomato, bacon, chipotle mayo, cheese, and lettuce are always on my mind; but putting your chicken, soft buns, and egg in my mouth was the best thing that ever happened to me. I pray that one day we will meet again and things will be like they used to be. It was only when I was with you that I felt special and felt the love that words can't describe.I will always love you and you will always have a special place in my heart.But for real. The regular chicken sando is fine, but Lil Chunky's is the best chicken sandwich I've ever had and it's not even close. Level 5 or bust. Their fish sando is really really really good too. I had a few rough experiences when they first opened this location compared to the East Liberty one, but glad I gave them a 4th chance because the past few months they've been consistently good. Also happy this location has a fountain machine and more seating compared to East Lib.
Big juicy chicken sandwiches. I usually get level three which is the perfect amount of heat. I’ve been here many times and the food quality is always consistent. Staff friendly and aim to please. Great addition to Southside!
Not sure if I got lucky. Lucky If the fryers had just been cleaned. If I got the lucky cut of a big juicy piece of chicken. Lucky I got a cook who knew how to spice it up and cook it just right. But that was the best chicken sandwich I've ever had, and I'm an old man who's been around.
