Amazing little restaurant. We were greeted fondly by the owner as if we were old friends. We were seated outside in a cute little courtyard, and the atmosphere could not have been better. We were informed by the owner that they were short staffed, and that only one waitress would be attending to us and the other 7-8 tables, and she could not have knocked it out of the park better. The resteraunt is a well oiled machine considering there was only one waitress, a single cook, and a busy assistant tending to all of the guests. The food was delicious and reasonably priced for the portions. The owner took time to get to know each table and conversed with them without being overbearing like some restaurants, and he is worth the return to the restaurant alone. All in all was a very pleasant experience, and we will have to return. Reservations are recommended as they are very popular!

A first time visit at the lovely Bertrand in the South Hills. Wonderful, and affordable French food. Beautiful outdoor patio, surrounded by flowers, and a lively and interesting owner making you feel at home. Will definitely go back.BYOB.

Amazing food, service & hospitality! We were greeted by the friendly owner upon arrival and brought to our table. The waitress was very knowledgeable and charming and made us feel like old friends. Ordered everything at once and it was perfectly coursed. We shared their pate and I got the vichyssoise soup and rack of lamb. My husband got their side salad (with the best dressing - a tarragon vinaigrette) and scallops. We shared the chocolate pot de cream for dessert, decadent and delicious. I truly can’t say enough about this restaurant, the patio is set back off the road in the middle of court yard with tons of flowers and charm. It’s BYOB so find your favorite French wine and check them out!

Very nice atmosphere and great food. The lamb and beef bourguignon were cooked perfectly, very tender. Loved the pate as well and the cheesecake was some of the best I’ve had. Very friendly service and owner as well. Highly recommend and will be coming back as there are many more great things on the menu to try.

Had dinner there last evening, the hostess/waitress was a delight as was the owner.I had the potato and leek soup (served cold) and my wife had the Pate which was large enough portion for 2 peoples appetizer. The appetizers were wonderful. The Bordeaux I was drinking paired spectacularly with the soup and Duck I had for dinner. My wife had the Scallops and commented the sauce they were served with was delightful. The establishment is a BYOB.We will definitely be returning, a true hidden gem in the South Hills.Karl

Lovely decor, nice atmosphere, great service, and excellent French cuisine.

My wife and I went for dinner, for appetizer she had the pate (chicken livers) which she loves. She was quite pleased with it and I had the potato leek soup (served cold). I was drinking a very good Bordeaux wine and was blown away with how well the soup paired with the Bordeaux. For our main course she had the scallops and was quite pleased, while I had the duck which was very moist and flavorful. I would rate this establishment at a 4.9 as the decor was attractive, the food was of high quality with generous portions and both the server/hostess Emily and the owner were outstanding in taking care of their guests. I also liked that it was a BYOB as I could pick/bring the specific wine I wanted and also brought a small bottle of vodka for my wife that our server happily prepared my wife's mixed drink. Definitely will be back and will bring some friends Karl

Been meaning to write this review for a while. This little French Bistro has fantastic food and a wonderful atmosphere. Service was impeccable and Lou (the owner) made us feel right at home. Highly recommend and it is BYOB!

Lovely dining experience. Had the salade de Niçoise, pomme frites, and the chocolat pot de creme for dessert. I asked for the tuna to be a little more well-done because that is my preference. It was delicious. The pomme frites were just okay (I would skip these next time). The pot de creme was a little bowl of ganache. Just enough sweet to end the meal. The owner chatted with us and it was a lovely experience. I can't wait for the outside to be ready for summer. Also looking forward to trying them out for lunch (after May 1).

Absolutely fantastic dining experience! Service, food, ambience and nice table side chat with the owner all made for an great time. Escargot and pâté were our favorite parts of the meal.
