Coffee is pretty average and they have some cool flavors but the owner seems a little unhinged. The other people who work there are nice but the owner is grumpy when he interacts with you. I looked at their Instagram and it’s totally toxic. They like posting bad reviews (even about past regular customers!) and it appears they don’t understand the idea of “customer service”. He seems to think that people owe him for allowing them the privilege of being his customers when, in reality, he should be more accommodating to the community that has kept his doors open. Maybe he’s in the wrong field or something. The other coffee shop up the road is very friendly and also has cool flavors. They also don’t degrade people!
I've spent 100s of dollars there over several months, buying a $4.50 coffee each day. If you sit down, you have about 1 minute to buy an over priced coffee or they ask you to leave. They blocked off their outlets so you cant work there for very long. I think management changed because this place used to be a nice environment. there are 2 small two person tables and a couch. One morning I came in, bought a coffee, went to lunch, and returned with the same coffee I bought that morning. Within one minute, they asked me "what I want" and I said that I was okay for now because I havent finished my AM coffee yet. The barista laughed at me because of how "ridiculous" I was for thinking I could come back. I tried to give it a chance, but I've switched where I get my AM coffee hit!
Best coffee shop in the area. In-house roasting, kind staff (that have been around for a long time), fun specialty drinks every season. There’s bike and street parking out front and always a friendly face inside :)
Favorite coffee shop in Pittsburgh, and I’ve tried a lot of them. It’s a small space, but they have cafe tables outside when the weather is nice. They make the best macchiato, and always explain what roast they’re using. I recommend Arriviste to everyone I know!
No outlets to charge your laptop. Overrated coffee. Snobby baristas. I’ve been given attitude on multiple occasions when asking questions. Have tried to like it but misses the mark. Won’t be going back.
I so badly want to love it here, but I found the service lacking and un-welcoming. They also open much later than ideal. Will definitely be heading up the street to Round Table instead
Sleek modern coffeehouse. Great custom roasted coffee and espresso drinks. The hand pies were pretty good too so that was a bonus. I've never seen espresso machines or a roaster that looked like theirs; the future is now!
Drove 25 mins to check out this place. I wish the coffee wasn’t so sour and bitter.
I’ve been here two times and honestly, it is overrated. No outlets if you want to charge your laptop or phone. Felt awkward and judged by the people working when I asked if they have flavor shots. Coffee is OK, definitely overpriced. There are better coffee shops in the area.
Upscale for sure, with the prices to match. But I never feel as though I don’t get what I pay for—their seasonal specials always raise my eyebrows when I read the listing, but I’ve never tried one I didn’t like! The baristas are friendly, personable, and skilled. Even if I didn’t live right around the corner from this place, it would definitely be on my list of top coffee shops!
