Solid burgers - not much to complain about but also nothing spectacular either. Buns are average. Spiced mayos/aiolis are good but not enough on burger. The fries are good though last time I went they were overcooked. Wait time during peak hours is quite high.
The Negley burger is the best burger I've had in Pittsburgh! Highly recommend. Applewood Smoke is a great place with great food, friendly staff, and reasonable prices.
this place is good and bad.the burgers are clearly quality and have thoughtfulness to them. the outdoor patio is nicebad -the value isn't there and they don't know how to cook to order. want it medium? it'll be well done. this isn't right for a place that is centered on burgers and you are paying a bit moreon value, you are paying higher 'new city' prices for what is a medium amount of food. the patty size is underwelming. kelly's or the squirrel hill cage could do you better
Burgers are really good, but the place is pretty divey. Folks are really friendly. Bar is actually a separate business from restaurant but it works.
Many reviews of Applewood Smoke Burger Company use the term "hidden gem", and I have to say that I agree. I'm shocked I didn't know about this place sooner but I found it while wanting to go out to eat and I am so glad I did! All the staff were super nice and helpful, even though the inside definitely has that older bar feeling, that's a good thing in my opinion (and it's clean too!). Everyone I ate with loved their food, I had a burger with blue cheese and regular fries, it was all fantastic and fairly priced. Support this business!!
Liked it is fitting here... there is no way that these are the best burgers in pgh... but they are certainly likable. Everthing was just a bit too generic to be as slightly spendy as it is here. The staff is absolutely fantastic and super friendly... but we were at the 60+ dollar range for my wife and I and two young kids. We wanted something different than our norm of red robin... and love supporting small locals... but I don't think I will be trading in our norm for this place. We were probably abut 20 bucks over what we'd spend at rr. I will say I really liked the fries... good showing on the rest but ... I can't see anyone thinking their the best... wish I was blown away for how likable it is here but, it just didn't wow me like other reviewers. May try again some day.
The burgers are fantastic and the crew is delightful — shoutout to Ryan for making us feel welcome! This is by far my new favorite place to get a burger in the area, you really can’t go wrong here.
Best burger in Pittsburgh. Seriously. Stack'd, Burgatory, and BRGR, are all lacking in comparison. If you want a burger that gets everything (meat, bun, toppings, sauce) all right, come here.
Located in the back of park place pub is Applewood Smoke burgers. A true hidden gem not to be passed up. The food was amazing and fairly priced. The entire staff was super friendly and the whole service was great. Highly recommend.
Hidden gem and it's the best burger I've had in Pittsburgh. The Applewood and the BBQ burgers are the favorites between me and my friends. Large selection of burgers and fries, generous portions, and great customer service.
