I used to LOOOOVE coming to Tubby Robot. It used to feel like coming over to a friends place for a sweet treat. In the past, you were able to play games on the side of the store while waiting for your ice cream and the cashiers used to be so friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately came back today for the first time in awhile and I have to agree with the reviews. Customer service is at an all time low.We were told to “move” when waiting out of the sun on the side of the window and abruptly told “like. now.” when we thought we could at least wait until our waffle came out. We understand that the small alley is shared. But No one was coming down the walk way, and we would’ve moved if we saw people coming. The mans tone was unnecessary and just plain not nice.Don’t think I’ll be back in with the way they’re treating customers these days. Really a shame. We loved them so much we bought merch too.Ice cream flavors are always good tho. And the Belgian waffles (pictured) are BANGING.Hope they get better help soon.
My fiancé and I left our dinner next door at 9:45 to make sure we had enough time to get tubby robot. When we got there 3 people were in line in front of us. The people in the front took 10 minutes to order and get their ice cream. When they left the employee told us and only us that he couldn’t serve us because they close at 10 and he wouldn’t have enough time to get to us before 10. It was already 9:59 and there were 2 people in front of us so he wouldn’t have enough time to get to them either but was allowing them to stay and order. We told him we had waited in line for 10 minutes and there was no one behind us and he told us again he didn’t have time to serve us. I understand drawing the line to close but there was no one behind us and it was already nearly 10 so why serve the 2 people in front of us but not us. Extremely rude and won’t be going back.
Ice cream is great, service is terrible. Saturday night, 10 minutes before close, all I wanted was a prepackaged carton of ice cream to take home. Not even a cone or bowl. I went inside to ask if they were still accepting orders and the cashier was unbelievably rude, to the point where the other customers noticed and apologized to me on his behalf. Maybe consider adding a tip on credit card option so that the staff feels somewhat motivated to be nice to customers because this is straight up just bad for business.
I'm conflicted here. The reason Tubby Robot gets 4 stars is because their salted caramel flavor is absolutely insane, and their waffle cones are similarly unreal. Truly some of the best I've ever had, like 6/5 stars. Unfortunately, their service is rough. Exhibit A: we had been hyping up Tubby Robot to a friend of ours who was visiting from the west coast, and after dinner we got in line. We were in line 10 minutes before closing time and the line was pretty short. When it was about 5 minutes from closing time, the cashier was serving the party in front of us (3 people), and she asked them if they were with us (also a party of 3 people). They said no, and the cashier made those customers tell us that she was now shutting down and refused to serve us. I'm...I'm not joking. She made the other customers tell us we were not going to be served. Like, WHAT? At the very least, you could have the decency to tell us yourself, and, I don't know, give a fake apology or something? We were the only people left in line and if she hadn't decided to close early, we would have been served by closing time. It was crazy rude. I don't want them to close down but the smallest bit of customer service training would do wonders for this place.
I am fully vaccinated AND walked in with a bandana covering my entire face to be told I didn't have a mask and wouldn't be helped. Excuse me? The bandana I had double wrapping my face was far more safe than the tiny mask the girl at the front had on. I witnessed another couple make a comment on how rude the cashier was as well .... Great ice cream but poor service
Stopped in tonight 8/29/21 and came across the most unwelcoming cashier I've seen in years.... Ice cream was good but not worth the service
Rudest employee I've ever come across .... The African American girl at the front was extremely RUDE and we decided not to give this business our money. Seems like unemployment ran out and someone had to get a job they didn't want.
Great ice cream - personally a big fan of the green tea because it doesn't taste artificial like many you'll find in other shops. Neat little spot on main st that has us going back for more
Ice cream is good if you can get a scoop! On more than one occasion friends and I stopped past tubby to get a scoop after dining , however there is always one girl working the register and floor alone who will shut the door no matter how many people are still in line. You can be in line for 10min but when the clock strikes 9:59p she will not serve anyone else. Shop is small so you must wait outside until your turn. They need a better system!
