Never returning to Tate's again. 1st time we came there were 11 ppl... 2 tables with 3 ppl, and 5 ppl sitting in pairs or alone. Placed our order and it was over 1.5 hrs until we got our food. Today we stopped back again- only bc this was a known favorite location over a decade ago. 2nd Time was a complete fail! Only 3 couples including us... one couple already had food. Just 2 couples ordering- we ordered food - breakfast sampler and eggs benedict. Eggs benedict were horrible... poached eggs were completely hard boiled and food was cold. We waited an hour for food. Sampler had undercooked eggs and overcooked sausage and pancakes.Waitress looked exhausted and was not a ppl person. What a disaster! Hire a new damn cook that can make meals in a timely fashion and prepare to serve hot food. TWO THUMBS DOWN!
Stop by a couple days ago and order a French Toast with Caramel Banana and apple's toppings.It took 40mins for my food to come out and by that time I was ready to go. Took a couple bites and the French Toast had no flavor at all. Even with the caramel and apples cause they give me no Bananas, with syrup it still wasn't good. Just a waste of time and money. Also the customer service is not that welcoming at least to me, just felt weird the whole time I was waiting and when I left, no bye or have a nice day, nothing just gave my change and that I was it.
Places like these are iconic staples for a city like Philly. Woke up this am looking for breakfast and this hit the spot. Fresh food and great service

Terrible service. I order at 9am for delivery, called around 11am to check on my order, someone told me it would be going out in 25 mins because it just came off the grill. I said okay, I understand place get busy. Around 11:45, still no order so I call again and they said "oh well the driver left already bit not with your order", so I said I will just come pick it up. I get a call right back to be told that my food had been sitting for a long time and is cold now and I can wait for them for them to reamke it. I requested they cancel my order and refund me, and the woman seemed to have a attitide once I asked for a refund. I get being busy, but you do not allow customer to just wait 2hrs, not let them know whats going on and then get a attitude when they are unhappy.
Family owned and operated, great service, great food, nice prices. Best breakfast in town, awesome friendly atmosphere.

This place has been around forever so it's great if you're going for nostalgia purposes. But if you're looking for a timely meal, go to the Liberty Bell Diner around the block. I waited 45 minutes after ordering, only for the Tate's waitress to casually mention they were "just starting" my order. This place needs some major updating. Looks like a roadside diner from the 70s. Nice staff, but food is greasy and served VERY slow.
Horrible food burger wasn't cooked properly and the beef stew was so dry , it reminded me of bad dog food. Threw it all in the trash. The waitress seemed like she didn't want to be there.
