I don't know where to start. It should have been a red flag for me when I read the reviews, but I decided to go anyway to see for myself. My friends and I went to the trap brunch. The dj was good, but he didn't interact with the customers like we saw in previous videos on ig (this was the reason for us going). There was someone selling hookah for $40. They charge a entry fee of $20 which include 1 mimosa, not bottomless like most brunch spots. Our waitress was nice but she gave us forks and just put them on the table (please see photo below). If this is supposed to be an upscale restaurant why give the forks out the way she did. The bathroom was nasty and dirty ( I don't have pix bc I left my phone on the table). Finally, our food comes out. I ordered shrimp and grits and it was super salty. One of my friends ordered the chicken and waffles, that was very good. There were kids there with their moyhers. The kids had to be no older than 5. The waitresses were twerking and the music was explicit. One of the mothers tried to cover her childs eyes and he moved her hand. Those kid should not have been there. This should have been explained to them upon arrival. Needless to say I won't be back and I will not be referring anyone else to go there. This place is ghetto trash?.
7/6/22 around 4pm walked in to pick up my food it was done on time hot in the bag and ready, it was clean and looked beautiful inside music wasn’t loud and disrespectful to the community, it wasn’t crowded two other customers in the store besides myself. My food was delicious everything seasoned and well done just how I like it! Oh and can’t forget the young lady that took my order & gave me my food was very polite! I appreciate you guys for the delicious meal I’ll definitely be back!
Was lookin for a soulfood spot in Philly and came across this place. Tasties Upscale. I guess they consider it upscale for that neighborhood. We walk in and the security guard is leaned over the bar eating out of a takeout container when he should be eating out of site. The DJ was in the front of restaurant and the music was so loud like it was a club and it was only 3 o'clock. And I shouldn't have to yell my order to our waitress. I asked to sit in the back cuz the music was so loud. We both ordered their version of chicken Alfredo which was a decent size portion and tasted decent but the price I felt was alil high but I figured ok it's Covid and everyone is raising prices. How u call yourself Upscale but u don't have actual metal utensils,cloth napkins and glassware,but our food did come on a real plate. Our waitress only came around to check on us once and I thought it's highly ridiculous that they only take cash and no credit which they should have a sign stating that on the front door and not when ur bout to pay ur bill. Our waitress never gave us our bill so we had to walk up to the front to pay. We get to the front and the waitresses were all huddled up on their phones,the security guard was at the bar takin hits off the Hookah pipe when a group of 4 young adults came in and the security guard gets up off his stool and blows out a large puff of smoke as he tells them to open their purses so he can look inside and he patted down the guy that was with them. I'm like am I at a restaurant or a club. I get they're trying to create a party like atmosphere but kick that off after 8,9 o'clock and just lower the volume sum and have it as background music. I doubt I will ever come back or recommend this place. Should be a sign that there's more negative reviews then positive ones. Just cuz we're Black we shouldn't have to accept mediocre service,especially if we're paying that amount of money for food and drinks.
The food was good but the portions were very small for the price! All I ordered was 4 pieces of Buffalo shrimp some Mac and cheese and a chicken San which it almost came up to 70$! And the music was loud and our food took to long I wouldn’t recommend this place
This was a unexpected visit and I must say. I'm so chock of the service we received and how unprofessional this place have become. The food is not tastie. The drinks ? are over priced and water down. The place is ran by a bunch of Kids. Its more of a hang out spot for them.. came in and all you smelled was Blounts..weed..Still stayed. Ordered my food turkey wings waited a hour for them to tell me they were out. Once we did get the bill. It was a 20percent service fee on the bill. They charged extra for my drink when the menu said something different.. I will never go back to this place and wouldn't recommend it to anyone else ither..This is why it's hard to support black owned businesses ?
I would give zero stars if I could. I love to support a black owned business, but this place needs some serious organization.We had a reservation to celebrate a birthday and called to reconfirm the day before. We were told there must have been a mix up because they don’t do brunch on that day. Meanwhile there was a whole text thread from the initial reservation request. Red flag #1.A month later we try again for the next birthday and get the right day. This time we were told while being seated “there’s a $20 per person entry fee and it comes with a mimosa”. Red flag #2-An entry fee for a restaurant? At this point it was too late to get reservations elsewhere, but in hindsight we should’ve left then! This is something that should be shared when making the reservation. We overheard other tables complaining about the same thing.The food was mediocre, at best, overpriced, and slow service. The bill was obnoxious for such a basic brunch.Don’t ignore the red flags!! Save your time and money for a place that knows how to treat their customers.
03/19/22 was my first time coming here and my last ! The service was so slow! Even with a reservation very slow ! And then we finally get our food after being seated for an hour and a half they forgot one of our orders. We had to wait about 30 mins for waffles. Fast forward we ask to speak to a manager and her daughter Logan comes by very rude full of attitude says she will take 20 percent off the bill but just adds it back on for the servers tip overall the has been a horrible experience I WILL NEVER RETURN NOT WORTH THE TIME OR MONEY !
It’s sad to say the brunch was horrible! My beef bacon wasn’t even done all the way, then I asked to take it back to get a fresh batch, which in fact they put it in the microwave, so disrespectful!!!! Never again will I ever order brunch but the dinner on the other hand is good.
The food and Hookah was Great!! But the server was trash. It took forever for us to get food and there was only 3 tables in the restaurant. We order a certain French toast to only be told that they only had regular French toast after we got our food. She never even told us her name.
1st time here and everything was wonderful... what you see is what you get ? the food was amazing ? the place was very niceeeee atmosphere & good service, We will be going back often to try other food items.
