Fantastic food here- service is very good. Give this place a try if you haven’t had Indonesian food before! My favorite was the coconut chicken soup- it’s so so good.
The service is friendly & attentive, the food is masterfully prepared, and the prices are shockingly affordable. In a city that offers a seemingly endless variety of delicious food, Sky Cafe stands out as one of the very best my husband and I had the pleasure to try so far. Our recent meal here was the first introduction we've had to Indonesian food. Having read the reviews in advance, I was expecting it to be good — but I wasn't expecting to fall so deeply and immediately in love with this cozy neighborhood gem. The fried chicken was crisp & juicy, the coconut rice was buttery with a satisfying texture, the sauce & marinade on each of the eggs was unique & satisfying, the pickles were crisp & refreshing, and the vegetable curry was a stand-out knocked-out-of-the-park home run. The fact that I didn't know exactly what I was eating most of the time didn't lessen my enjoyment of it in the least, and I really just could go on endlessly about how much I loved this meal.100% would recommend Sky to anyone. I am so looking forward to returning for another amazing meal, and for the opportunity to introduce friends and family to a new (to us) cuisine!Update: I returned and tried takeout this time. The food travels well — it was just as delicious as on my last visit. Points for consistency! Plus, the portions seem to be the same as they serve to those dining in. Very very happy I found this place.Update update: Been back 2 more times, and haven't had a bad (or even mediocre) dish yet! I'll continue working my way through the menu and posting more pictures.
4.7/5 my first time having Malaysian food and omg it was a fantastic experience. I am not sure how this place compares to other Malaysian restaurants, but I thought the food was phenomenal here. I had the chicken satay and the original rice table for $32. A bit pricey but worth it. The food was bursting with flavor and the meat was tender and flavorful. A hidden gem of a ethnic restaurant and highly recommend!
We went to this Indonesian resto along our way from New York City to Virginia. The food tastes great and the price is reasonable. Matthew, the waiter who served our table, was amazing. He was super friendly, easy-going and informative. Restroom was clean dine-in space is spacious. I love this place.
One of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to in Philly—and, as a bonus, also one of the cheapest. Everything I’ve had here has been spectacular—fresh, flavorful, and incredibly tasty. Of all the Indonesian places in Philly, this one stands out head and shoulders above the rest. Cannot recommend highly enough. I particularly anything with the homemade noodles
Went to Sky Cafe for my third time and they are consistently delicious. It is hard to find a restaurant that serves Indonesia food in my area so I drive down to south Philly to find it. I always wind up at Sky Cage when I get there. The flavors are unique and I wish I could cook rice as well as they do. The last time I was there they had stink beans but I did not find them on then menu this time. I guess I could have asked. I have tried three of their dishes and will continue to try them all before I declare a favorite.
I've been going to Sky Cafe for over 3 years now and it's always been a great experience every time. The waiters are attentive and the food comes out quick. If you're stopping in, I recommend any of the satays, as well as the shrimp-based sambal. For entrees, I recommend anything really. If you're new to Indonesian food, I recommend getting the Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng or Nasi Lemak Rendang, since they come with coconut rice and a couple small sides to give you a few different flavors.
I've been here twice and the food and service never fails. It's clean and they actually caught me and my friends by suprise with one of their drinks ! My bf and friend wanted to order an avocado smoothie and the kind waiter asked if they wanted it with chocolate or coffee LOL all of our faces turned upside down and was so confused but he explained how it actually tastes really good with either so my bf got chocolate and my friend got coffee. TO OUR SUPRISE it was sooooo good. Idk if it's a common drink but all 4 of us never heard or tried it before and both tasted great!!! And of course food as usual always is great. The spice level for their sauce is bomb. I'm a spicy person so their spice was nice! I do recommend trying to find parking OUTSIDE of the parking lot on the weekends since it's always a nightmare. We usually park in the nearby neighborhoods and walk. Idk how it is on the weekdays so I can't really give any advice on that subject.

Very tasty Indonesian food. Whenever I'm in the Philly area we stop by. Prices are good and the food tastes very flavorful and spicy. A few great dishes to try : Mie Komplit, Oxtail Soup, Nasi Padang, Sapi Igar and Chicken Satay for appetizer.Update:They now charge a 4% credit card fee so remember to bring cash to save on this fee.
