Been here in Philly for three days. I wish I discovered this place on day one. We had an excellent breakfast which included Blintzes and Potato Pancakes. The food was eaten before I could take pictures. You will not be disappointed.
I love the food here, really excellent. However service has gone very downhill over the years. Do not order using their website, they "don't get it" and then you show up at the pickup time and they haven't seen it. They expect you to call to confirm your order and are completely unapologetic about their broken system instead deciding to fight with you about it. I asked if they would at least compensate part of the meal, the guy said no, and then I overheard him laughing saying tell her I comped her side salad. Needless to say I didn't eat the side salad. Won't be going back after many years of patronage.
We went for breakfast. Coffee, eggs and toast were just fine. The reviews almost scared me away. Outdoor seating, too, which I like.
A deli that serves breakfast. Good quality and fresh food for a reasonable price.
Good food.Very expensive.Be sure they pack all take out items because they frequently omit what you paid for...rather unorganized in a hectic, busy delicious restaurant.
The restaurant is suffering the understaffed situation; not enough waitress/waiters. The service is okay. A glass of water without giving me straws; a bowel of soup without giving me a spoon. The food is great though. We've tried the Matzo Ball Soup and the Mr. Schlesinger’s Special Sandwiches with potato pancake(latkes).
Went for a passover meal. All traditional holiday foods were available. Ordered matzoh ball soup and the server put noodles in the soup. One would think that a jewish restaurant would know the rules of the holiday.
The young lady who answers the phone is quite rude. She puts you on hold and then hangs up on you. The food is so/so, nothing to write home about and definitely not worth dealing with the ignorance of the person answering the phone.
I had earlier rated this place four stars. But on my last visit, I was very underwhelmed with the service. Waitress was distracted, unattentive and pretty rude. Ordered a turkey sandwich on toasted rye and a side salad. It came untoasted. Salad didn't come at all. Pointed out the untoasted bread and she said "you didn't tell me that ... but that's ok" I assumed she was going to bring toast, but she never did. Did anyone ever teach this toddler that "you" is an attack word? If you're dealing with the public, you should know that. And you should train your waitresses to know that, manager. In this case, I happened to be right; I'd made it very clear as my wife can attest. But even if I'd been at fault, just shut up and fix it. Salad finally came and it wasn't great - big chunks of light yellow lettuce core. Is the owner economizing or is the owner unaware that no one wants lettuce core? Waitress put her coat on and left without once asking if everything was ok or if we wanted anything else. Btw, turkey was excellent, but the experience was overall very meh. Shame there aren't many good deli alternatives in this city anymore.
Absolutely delicious sandwiches. The bread was fresh and soft, the meat was fresh and flavorful, and the pickles were delicious. I have recommended this restaurant to friends and will definitely be back for more.
