Solid spot for pizza in Philly. We got the red pie, garlic and greens, and regular cheese. Garlic and greens was our favorite by far. We also got the ricotta appetizer which went rly well with the pizza crust. Nice selection of wine (we got a bottle of the rosata) and pretty good service. Hard to find parking in the area so be sure to factor in extra time if you drive. Only reason for 4 stars is because I’m a harsh pizza critic, but it was still really good and would def come back again. Everybody knows one bite.
Sat outside tonight in 90 degrees and it felt awesome outside. The starters are thoughtful and delicious. We got the kale salad which was very tasty, as well as the charred cabbage, which was the first time I willingly had cabbage in my life! The pizzas are really awesome. Cooked in a stone oven and a whole variety of toppings. 6 slices on approximately a 14" pie, we got the plane and also a sausage and onion pie. Super crispy and tons of fresh flavor.Cocktails are great too, top to bottom a great experience and the staff was easily the best part!!!!
Every single dish we had was exceptional. We were a party of 6 post-graduation and across the board we all said it was one of the best meals we’ve ever had. We came hungry and ordered a ton. Left not one bite. Seasonal ingredients prepared subtly and each unique. The shrimp, asparagus, and sausage and onion pizza top the list but ricotta and kale Caesar and zucchini were divine too. Too hard to pick a favorite. And we had a 9:30 reservation and were never rushed.Bravo! Would eat here weekly if we lived in Philly. Wish you’d open in Brooklyn :)
I’m bummed to write this because I love SALLY. As someone whose been to over 200 restaurants in Philly, the food, ambience, and service have all been excellent all of the 5+ times I’ve come in for dinner. I really am a big fan and have always recommended it to my friends and colleagues. So much so that I picked to go on my recent birthday with 5 close friends. One of these friends was kind enough to bring a cake from Di Bruno and we kindly asked if it could be kept in the fridge while we ate dinner. After a great meal, we got the check and noticed there was a $30 extra charge. When we asked the waitstaff they said it was for the cake. After a bottle of wine and additional glasses/cocktails, four small plates, three pizzas, and a chocolate cake (yes, despite bringing a cake I always get this dessert), I thought this was excessive and not customer-forward. One of my favorite things about SALLY is the neighborhood feel and this steep extra charge to cut a cake and put four candles on it is not neighborly. Bottom line, go for the pizza and leave the cake at home I guess.
First, im so happy they are open on Sunday! I decided to go for dinner myself on Sunday afternoon and thankfully I was just one because the fill tables quickly! I sat at the bar and it was very cozy inside and the bar tender was friendly! I ordered the red pie with stratcciatella and anchovies and it was soooo delicious! First time having anchovies on pizza and I will never be the same again! For dessert I had the basque cheesecake and it was very light and airy! I really was craving coffee with my cheesecake but their machine was down, however the bartender gave me a complimentary dessert liquor that had the bitterness I was looking for! I greatly appreciated the attentiveness and going above and beyond to make my experience as enjoyable as possible! :)
Incredibly rude and incredibly inhospitable. Was told an hour wait today for outdoor (understandable) and one table indoor (available now). Tried to ask questions about vaccination policies as we were told that all party members needed to be vaccinated for indoor seating. We stated that we (the 2 adults/parents) are and can show vaccine card but that our 9 month old is not eligible for the vaccine. The employee stated they don’t care and doesn’t matter, that’s their policy. Not even a chance to explain our question and were told rudely by the hostess you can take your business elsewhere and eat somewhere else. Not a family friendly business - don’t bother.
Amazing food, great drinks, attentive service. I've been a half a dozen times and they never give enough menus for the whole party to have their own?? But other than that, it's pretty perfect.
Had a really great meal here. The Clam and Leek pizza was super flavorful and delicious, so were the japanese yams. We had great cocktails as well. Superb service. Will have to come back to try more dishes and the wine. also: heated seats!!
The staff are super rude and unaccommodating and the pizza is mediocre at best. I heard this place was good but certainly past their prime. Many good options in Philadelphia don’t waste your time at this one.
Great food, service, and wine! Super cute restaurant. Will be back. Thanks!
