Simple and elegant interior, excellent selection of fresh fish well prepared, courteous and attentive service, and good discussions about the menu and life with the chef. Everything I could want in an omakase. Worth the price. I will be back for sure.
We ordered 138 menu, include 1 appetizer 3 kitchen food 14 nigiri or sashimi 1 uni bowls and 1 dessert. Best omakase ever at this price. Definitely worth a try.
Definitely has some excellent food and vibes for the price. There are 2 omakase menu to choose from $88 and $138 which I think the biggest differences are the inclusion sashimi plate and dessert. We went with the $138 set and it was very filling. Would definitely comeback here!
i thought the reviews for sakana sounded a little over hyped, i assumed there was no way i would enjoy it as muchboy was i wrong, the service is incredible and every dish or piece of sushi was made with great careits BYOB, we brought a bottle of pinot noir, and if paying with cash there is a 10% discountall guests are served at the same time, around the sushi bar, and once dinner starts nobody else is allowed ina great experience and probably my best sushi experience everyou will not be disappointed
This place deserves more hype!A unique and fresh selection of fish and perfectly seasoned rice at reasonable omakase prices. Would never have expected to find such high quality sushi in Philly.
**This is written after their 2021 renovation and reopening.Best value omakase in town. No nonsense.Chef Lin put a lot of thoughts on how he processes the fish. He coordinates the seasoning, food pairing and ingredient quality very well. Chef Lin also takes pride of the food he prepares. He cares about the fish cut, season, source and processing. I had a great conversation with him.The staff was friendly. There was a fine line between being responsive and showing a strong presence. Or maybe the good food elevated my expectations too high
Omakase is my favorite way to enjoy sushi and I have experienced it at numerous places in many cities. Sakana makes for an absolutely amazing and authentic omakase experience. Their renovation is gorgeous and perfects the experience. The chefs are extremely skillful, the quality of the fish is superb, the rice is amazing (super key!) and the BYO is a super nice touch. Great customer service - the servers are so kind and the chefs interact with the guests in such a nice way.
What a great time. Byo we brought a few bottles of sake. They were right on getting it on ice for us and our glasses never sat empty for a minute lolThe food... fresh prepared right In front of us from mackerel to tuna to uni.We did the 17 course and it did seem a little rushed at times but I knew goin in we were on the clock .Very serene place the other diners seemed very subdued but we were totally enjoying ourselvesA great meal at that price point. Pay cash if you can and save a card surcharge.We'd plan A weekend back in Philly just to eat here again
