I had really high hopes for this tasting because the reviews for the bakery is great and there are so many flavors (10), so I anticipated finding at least a few I would like; however that was not my experience. I honestly cannot say I liked any of them (however, the lemon filling is delicious). I found all the cakes textures to be dense vs. fluffy, moist, crumbly, etc. The tasting presentation was beautiful and my interaction with Meg was pleasant (super responsive), so I really wanted to love Nutmeg cakes, but sadly I didn’t.
I cannot recommend Nutmeg Cake Design enough!! Meg and her team are beyond talented and incredible bakers and humans. I have had the pleasure of knowing Meg for years and even more of a pleasure eating her treats. Most recently while dogsitting in Manayunk, I bought three different Too Good To Go bags and was blown away by the variety of sweets inside. I also purchased my Dad’s birthday cake too. It was her textured cake style with vanilla chocolate chip cake and vanilla cream cheese icing. My whole family was SO impressed with all the sweets I brought home. The macarons and chocolate cake were my favorite!! Thank you SO much Meg and her team!!! I cannot recommend her enough and supporting her business!!

We signed up for a tasting to celebrate our Nov 2020 engagement and wound up falling in love with Nutmeg Cake Design’s flavors. Her consultation with us made everything so easy. We loved that we could mix and match the cake and icing options and design elements to create something that felt true to us in desert form. We ordered an earl grey cake with honey butter cream for our cutting cake along with mini cupcakes in chocolate cake with raspberry buttercream and champagne cake with passion fruit butter cream.In a planning year that had a lot of twists and turns (guest count, covid considerations, design changes etc), Meg was a team player and easy to work with. Looking forward to ordering from Meg and her team to celebrate our first anniversary (Sep 2022).
Holy moly! We ordered some mini cupcakes and this beauty I added a photo of. Communication was a little lacking but man those calls were worth it. Will order again.
We did extensive research for our wedding cake and Nutmeg, by far, came out on top! From the communication and service to the samples to the delivery. The cake was DELICIOUS (we got the earl grey and honey buttercream) and we are thrilled to have extra for anytime we want to relive our wedding day.
I had such a great experience working with Meg of Nutmeg Cake Design for my wedding. I was living in Manayunk at the time I was looking for a baker and loved the idea of using someone local. As a dessert lover and chocoholic I was drawn to all of the delicious flavors she offers. The tasting did not disappoint. Each flavor is true to its name and I was happy to eat all of the samples. When it came to the design of the cake I wanted Meg to draw inspiration from the floral details of my dress. She was so excited and enthusiastic about the creative opportunity and that we really wanted the cake to make a statement. She went above and beyond with the final product and on the day of my wedding I was truly blown away with how she was able to capture the details of my dress in the design of the cake. I would highly recommend Nutmeg Cake Design for their delicious and beautiful cakes and baked goods.
I have a huge sweet tooth and really wanted the cake to be great. So, I gathered some friends and ordered the tasting (on one of Nutmegs tasting days) from four different cake vendors to do a side-by-side comparison.The Nutmeg pistachio and early gray cake was a clear winner. So by taste alone, Nutmeg won. Some time before the wedding, Meg reached out to confirm our order and to discuss the design of the cake. I sent her a few photos of cakes from her Instagram page I liked, and she sent me a sketch of the the cake as part of the proposal. Even from the sketch, the cake was GORGEOUS. The execution, when I saw the cake the day of, was also perfection. It was one of my favorite parts of the day! The whole process was so seamless, I could not recommend Meg and her team enough!
Meg was awesome to work with in helping me design a custom cake for my sister's graduation. It turned out even better than I imagined and my sister absolutely loved it! The cookies and cream flavor was amazing as well.
Meg created the most beautiful cake for our wedding. She was so helpful and responsive throughout the entire process. Everyone was raving about how amazing the cake looked and tasted! We also had an awesome time with the at home cake tasting box and it was so hard to choose from all of the wonderful flavors. We can't wait to order from her again for future special occasions!
