It’s the biggest pizza I’ve ever seen. A large is the same size a a sheet pizza. The large box probably won’t fit in a car but will fit in a folded down backseat of an suv..If you’re trying to be low key, don’t order a large. (People will snap photos and stuff.) A single slice is $5 and the size of a personal pan pizza and will fill you up. This is a thin crust that you fold over. Lots of cheese. You will need really big plates to hold one slice. The taste is pretty good-pizza is kind of “wet” with grease. Maybe don’t wear nice clothes because it will soak through the paper plate and onto you. The area is really fun & entertaining for people-watching, seeing and being seen. It’s definitely a party atmosphere.
We asked about pizza when we arrived in the city. The first three people we asked said Lorenzo and Sons. A slice is comparable in wingspan to a shortstop's glove. It's reputed that a whole pie is wider than a car door, and you have to tilt it to get it onto the seat. Separated by at least two neighbourhoods from the Italian Market further South, Lorenzo's has an alchemy with humble cheese and tomato that none of them have ever discovered. A couple of practical tips in addition to what others have said about cash-only. We went in May 2022, and at that point they were takeout only to protect from Covid. As a result you can find yourself on South Street with no immediate options to sit and eat. Bainbridge Green is a block away (come out of Lorenzo's and then turn right onto S 3rd Street), or if you can bear to wait that long there's a pleasant little park just off S Darien Street (walk about 5 blocks West along South Street).
Love this place , always have always will, just miss the old days when the line was almost down the block and they closed 2 or 3 am, Had that End of the night party feel. People from all walks of life standing outside, taking / drunk at times and just having a good time. And even the bouncer, who seemed like he was there for years , A really nice guy Who kept order. I believe those days will never return. But it's nice to stop by grab a slice and just remember when...
The best pizza in South Philly they've been around for years never a disappointment and they have the biggest slices in town
They have gigantic pizza boxes now. It was hilarious seeing my tiny wife walking down south street with that jawn! Great drunk pizza! Has a sweet sauce, super big slices. Add some garlic and oregano and your set
Really a fantastic place! I kind of like that it's one thing and they do it really well. Absolutely huge slices, tasty, but almost too big! Sometimes that wad of cheese in your mouth doesn't really want to go anywhere. Still, I'd do it again. Cash only and prices have gone up - think around $6/slice. And cheese only for single slices. There are also drinks but no seating.
I've been going here to get pizza slices for years. One slice is normally enough to fill me up. The slices are about 12 inches long. They used to have indoor seating but since they renovated the indoor seating was removed. On weekend nights in summer the wait in line can last a few minutes because of their popularity
Been seeing this place on south street for over 20yrs now an never bothered to give them a try until about a week ago. I was pleasantly surprised how good their pizza was. And the slices are HUGE! They also put a good amount of cheese and sauce on their pizza unlike some other places..
