The best sushi in Philly and I thought I didn't like sushi lol I try to go here at least once a month

Hands down the best sushi I’ve ever had in my life. It was an eccentric experience that made it feel like it was right out of a Murakami novel

The food is amazing here. You feel like you're eating in someone's cozy kitchen. The staff is friendly and accommodating. This is not your average sushi. Ask Johnny for recommendations. We learn something new about sushi every time we go. So lucky it's in our neighborhood.

Service was slow, finding parking was hard. But the fish and food quality was excellent. It's a small place with very few tables and BYOB. Plus they're short on wait staff I think

This place is not what it used to be. Service is amateur. They have a surcharge for paying with a cc. They are overpriced for what they offer and cut corners from everything they serve, including wasabi and ginger. Servers do not wear masks.

Friendly staff found a way to seat me on a Friday night, when I should have made a reservation. I selected two Maki rolls, and both were delicious. I can’t recall the name of the ‘flattened’ roll, but my impression was buttery.

Do get the half and half roll, a little bit of the sublime. And do, if you are byob'ing, share some drink with the chef and staff.

I have no major issues with the quality of the food at this restaurant; however the service and overall experience was simply unacceptable. The night started off pleasantly enough as the staff was able to quickly accommodate us with seats at the sushi bar. They brought us menus and water. After we placed our orders, everything proceeded as expected with the appetizers arriving first. Then the sushi we ordered were brought to us and the first significant issue appeared. Only 2 of the 3 orders arrived and the waitress came over to apologize that she misread her own handwriting. I get it, small hiccups happen all the time but this was awkward to say the least. I sat there without food and my friends sat there with food, not wanting to start eating without me. After another short wait my sushi did arrive and we finally began eating. To their credit, my friend asked for spicy mayo and they were fairly quick at producing the condiment. The second issue came along with the check. We noticed that the price on some of the items were higher than the numbers listed on the menu. We double checked with a menu to confirm and when we asked about it, the waitress admitted that she forgot to mention that the prices for some items had been increased with no indication. I can think of no justification for not disclosing these changes before we had placed our orders. Informing us after the fact comes off as extremely dishonest. As this was a relatively minor dollar amount, I was even more surprised when they wouldn't simply honor the prices as listed on the menu. At this point I was pretty much done and just wanted to settle the bill and leave. I gave them my card and hoped to simply move on from this unfortunate experience, but then a third issue happened. After they had charged my card and brought the receipt back for me to sign, the waitress again surprised me by mentioning that they added a 4% surcharge for using a credit card as opposed to cash. Now, I was livid. I would have understood had this information been disclosed prior to completing the transaction, but after all the other events of the night, I am simply in disbelief that they would also without this information.I can confidently say that I will not be visiting this restaurant again. There are plenty of options for sushi in the city and there's no reason to ever come back here.

BYOB, and great fresh salmon and tuna. Rolls are limit but all great. Half and half is especially good.

What a great place and Alex the chef, the best guy you'd ever meet! We had chef's choice and every item on the platter delicious!!
