Absolutely delicious and well worth the price! They are VERY transparent about their pricing literally everywhere (you'd have to be deliberately ignoring it to miss it) and I really believe in their mission! As someone who formerly worked in the food service industry, the number of people who walked out on a bill or refused to tip after after we spent 2-3 hours serving them was RIDICULOUS. If you can't afford to tip on top of purchasing your meal, you shouldn't really be going out. The 20% gratuity that's included isn't hidden pricing or whatever craziness is going on in some of these reviews. It's ensuring that people who are working hard to serve you get paid what they're worth! I also tip additional on top of everything because the staff is always pleasant and friendly and I'm grateful to be able to eat the delicious food!Anyway, Birria Ramen/Taco combo is so delicious it should be illegal. I can't stop eating this food and can't wait to continue going back for more!
Fire birria, the ramen was crazy delicious. Super cool vibes in the place, really friendly staff. A much needed, wonderful addition to passyunk ave. Also it’s a pandemic with crazy food costs, but if you are complaining about having to tip the workers that made your delicious food, you should be home microwaving your meals instead.
Yo, this place is fantastic. I'm so full right now about to slip into a food coma while my toddler destroys the house. Way more food than I expected for 3 tacos. These things are dense on their own and then you dip them into a broth that just brings your life into an unstoppable itis.Google says it's takeout only but that's not true. They're open for dine in! We got the ramen, an order of birria tacos, an order of vegan birria tacos, and a churro for the little one. She's almost 3 and difficult so she didn't want to eat it. More for me! Yum!! All of it was fantastic. I'd go back in a heartbeat to leave with a full belly. Some people complaining about the cost and auto 20% gratuity. Worth every penny and then some. Let these workers get paid. If you can't afford it go to taco bell. Also, the ramen, fantastic. It's a beefy, cheesy, noodly, delicious hot mess. We got lunch but honestly will probably skip dinner we're so full...
EDIT: Yes I seem to be oblivious and did not know about the extra charges but I am not the only one for sure. Why dont you do your customers a favor and eliminate any potential for confusion? Im fine if you want to add a tip as it is deserved but am angry about the false advertising practices. You are not charging $21 for raw ingredients. The menu price needs to include all costs, utilities rent and labor needed. So put $25, $30, $100 or whatever you feel like charging on your big fancy sign and stop with these silly games.we were initially not going to leave a review, but feel like feedback needs to be heard since it is being requested.I always support independent restaurants over chains but experienced some poor conduct during my visit. These people are strait up lying to customers about the prices. I didnt notice until after I paid but the $21 tacos rang up to $25 before tax. The person at the counter gave a long explanation to the "mandatory tip" and living wages so on which I kinda support. If you are going to charge $25 for a product you need to show that on your big fancy board. An explanation to extra charges in fine print is not acceptable. the entire menu is purposefully listed with wrong prices. I was caught off guard and I am sure many others were too.It is apparent that the business is using this tactic to advertise a deceptively lower cost. The tacos themselves were fine, but there are many other spots in the city who also serve good tacos that dont play silly pricing games.
Fantastic food and beautiful location. It’s truly amazing to be able to pop in for food I can taste the love and hard work that was put into it. My partner loves meat and I am pescatarian. To find a spot that does both so damn well- is just amazing. Also love the fact that I can support a woman owned business that provides a living wage for its employees during these trying times. Cannot wait to go back.
Delicious. We love the Vegan Birria Tacos, and the vegan wings. My fiancée met the owner at a Global Taste event and she was very sweet.Totally cool paying the 20% tip to give the staff better wages. But seriously love the vegan wings.
Beyond words. Best birria style tacos EVER! Be sure to try the ramen/birria combo. Mind blowing! ?
I love this food! My partner is vegan and it's rare to find any vegan options at a Mexican restaurant. Juana Tamale has lots and they'll all delicious. The vegan buffalo wings are my new favorite food. The owner and staff are all so nice and orders come out quickly.Yes, there's an automatic tip and the prices are higher than most Mexican restaurants. But we should value Mexican food more. The staff here are paid living wages and the meat comes from a local farm that treats its animals really well. I'm happy to support that and get delicious tacos in exchange.
You charge 20% gratuity for bad service and take away! That's insane! If you want to pay your workers a fair wage than YOU pay them a fair wage not your customers. Tips should be optional. The food here is already over priced and the service is subpar at best. I won't be supporting this business.
I’ve been a vegetarian for over 20 years and it’s rare that I can find take out food that has good flavor. Juana tamale made the absolute tastiest vegetarian birria I’ve ever had. As a matter of fact, no one makes vegetarian birria. The consume was exceptional. I was especially impressed that this is not a solely vegetarian restaurant but yet they have outdone every veg restaurant in the city. I still dream about that food. I see people complaining about the price and gratuity. Trust me it’s worth every dollar and then some. Great, friendly staff, fun decor, and fantastic food.
