This was easily the best place for cocktails in south philly pre-covid; however, I've found it nearly impossible to get a drink here recently due to hours, reservations, etc. Last night the bar had two ppl and we were told that we'd need a reservation to grab a cocktail. While I appreciate ITV in its new form, it has definitely lost a bit of its charm.
I've been coming to ITV for the last 3 years. It's been my go to cocktail bar. I tell all my friends its a must visit. I was saddened when they extended their covid shut down due to their small intimate sitting area. Tonight they announced their opening night on social media and my friends and I had it marked on our calendar. We couldn't wait to have top end egg white cocktails at our favorite place. We showed up at 5:20 thinking it was a 5:45 opening. The hostest politely greated us and asked us to come back at 5:45 when they were open. We sat out front in our car due to the cold and decided to return 5:35. We were surprised to see the bar was full and a new hostest apologized saying we are fully bookejq. Upset, I asked to talk to the host that asked me to come back at 5:45. She aggressively approached me saying "we didn't want people waiting ten minutes in the cold" I responded, " I was here 20 minutes ago in my car". Knowing people make mistakes I suggest "hey can I give you my number and you call when the group is ready to leave". The host quickly responded I can't do that. "We are first come". I attempted to reason with this host maybe she was the owner and she just kept repeated we are first come first serve.I am so sad to see my favorite place poorly managed, have rude employees, and unable to problem solve mistakes. I so badly want to return but I am unsure if I can get past this.
I can't wait for this place to get to open again. Amazing craft cocktails and upscale bar foods with a French twist. The smoked trout rillettes were one of the best bites I ever had. Can't wait to eat them again.
I took my girlfriend last night to In the Valley (ITV Philly) for an Early Valentines Day Dinner and This place is AMAZING! Our server Laura was very professional, helped us with a smile and made sure our night was amazing.Great food, great drinks and great service!Drinks that we tried and loved.. ITV is a fun place, but it's most fun around Christmas time when it turns into a themed pop up bar. All of the drinks are served in holiday themed glasses and have generally great names. Would definitely recommend checking it out.
Just got takeout from here, rabbit ragu and the fried chicken sandwich were both hella good.
Amazing drinks and food
Restaurant week- honestly all the dishes were excellent. The rosemary ice cream paired with the warm polenta cake (texture like cornbread), amazing. The duck sausage with lentil smash - so well seasoned. The cabbage salad with grapefruit- who knew that cabbage could be so good when charred and well dressed. Cocktails were also great.
Very disappointed in ITV. Our first impression at their bar was not a pleasant one. I believe their two bartenders were in a “tiff” of some sort and not communicating with each other...or us...and ignoring their other customers. We felt very uncomfortable there with no interaction with either bartender. After about twenty minutes, we were ready for our meal in ITV’s back dining area, which is dark and unappealing (with a full view of their bathroom door which was left open by several patrons and had to be closed by passing servers). I selected their East Passyunk Restaurant Week menu and my first entree, a cabbage salad, was soaked to saturation in its dressing which overpowered everything. My partner’s meal was not memorable, just okay. Our meal server was pleasant and knowledgeable, the only highlight of a very disappointing meal at ITV. We have upcoming dinner reservations at Nick Elmi’s next door eatery, Laurel, (a sister restaurant to ITV) which I hope and pray will be a better experience. Probably will not return to ITV anytime soon.
