Came here for a quick bite and few drinks while visiting Philadelphia. The restaurant was pretty full with brunch patrons, but the bar area was open seating with a few tables open. Once seated, the bartender immediately came from behind the bar to greet me and take any initial drink orders.Ordered a few cocktails and the Murray's NYC Cheese Board with 5 cheeses. Bartender immediately made the drinks and delivered them within a few minutes, then the Cheese Board within 5 minutes after that. When delivered, the explained the 5 different cheeses and a short history of them. In addition to the cheese, it included almonds, fresh fruit, fruit preserves, and mustard. The cheeses were a nice blend from soft to firm. Naturally preferred some over the other, but all were good overall. Drinks were well made and went well with the Cheese Board. It was a nice place to come for brunch and drinks. Service was very prompt and friendly. Had the Cheese Board this time, but will definitely try the other brunch foods as they all looked great in passing.
The restaurant is down a quiet street and has a nice outdoor seating area with fans and some shade. Good burgers. Reasonable range of beers.
Beautiful brunch spot with indoor and outdoor seatings. They didn’t lie with the name garden in their name. Outdoor seatings we’re under natural shade from the vines. Breath taking scenery in the middle of Philly downtown. Great foods and solid drinks. We got the chicken sandwich, shakshuka, and the salmon egg Benedict. My favorite drink was the stone wash.
Perhaps a bit too much ambiance with their upstairs lighting. I had to break out the light on my phone to read the menu.
Beautiful looking restaurant and some photos of tasty looking food….unfortunately the food was not so tasty. The menu online was not what was reflected on today’s menu. We tried the oat milk pancakes, and I’m sorry whoever cooked and approved this recipe should reconsider this being permanent on the menu. The pancakes were so dense and gummy and lacked flavor. The eggs benedict was so-so and lacked seasoning. Little to no salt on the potato hash. I was really excited to try this brunch place but definitely let down.
Excellent brunch spot! We visited from NYC and was recommended this place by a local. We got the truffle toast, eggs Benedict and short rib sandwich.Quality and plating of the food was excellent and the decor of the restaurant was beautiful.Drinks and service was great too! Overall would be back to try other items on the menu.
Our reserved-days-in-advance table in the cool patio area was excellent, although we first had to decline a terrible two-top pressed between a wall and another table. Once seated, however, we were treated to outstanding service, excellent bartending, and wonderful seasonal dishes. The bone-marrow appetizer was great, as were the pea pasta and snapper/lobster/bean entrees. Less successful was the green strawberry and rhubarb salad, which got a bit boring after a few bites. We were in no hurry, and our waiter timed the courses perfectly. Portions were large, and wines by the glass were well matched to the foods. Desserts are few and standard, but we were already full so no worries there.
This is a great restaurant to check out on a sunny day! Though we were seated inside, the large windows were open so we got the benefit of a cool breeze on a gorgeous, summer day. The decor in and outside was so aesthetically-unique!For lunch, I got the rainbow trout which came with fava beans, apricot, peanut sauce, and micro shiso. The trout was great and the flavors they paired with it were delicious! The only thing I didn't like so much about the dish was the apricots. Overall, this is a great spot if you're looking for a great ambiance with healthy bites.
We went to Harper’s garden for a romantic date night. The restaurant has nice interior decor. I was pleasantly surprised by their ‘Merican burger. It’s one of the best burgers I’ve ever had! We also tried their chicken, which was dry and unremarkable. They have some nice wines. We enjoyed a bottle of Rose; it was very good! Our server was very prompt and polite.
My boyfriend and I just had dinner at this beautiful restaurant. The appetizers were delicious, marrow and toast and a cheese plate, and our waitress was lovely and attentive. My main course, a filet with potatoes, was so salty, so incredibly salty, that it was inedible. I picked around at it for a while, hoping that perhaps there was a mistake in the kitchen and maybe the piece I was eating was overly salted but the rest was fine. However, all of it was super salty, including the potatoes. I had been looking forward to dinner all day and it was disappointing to be served food I couldn’t eat. It’s not that I have an aversion to salt. I salt my food more than most people I know, and I have a collection of various salts in my pantry. When I let the restaurant know that my meal was too salty to eat, a manager came to our table to investigate. Rather than acknowledge that the kitchen made a mistake, she offered to give us a “champagne toast” and comp our water. This was a seemingly nice gesture, but it did not fix the problem. I went to Harper’s Garden for dinner, not water and a champagne toast. To their credit, they eventually ended up removing the cost of my main course, but only after the manager gave me a hard time and condescendingly made me explain what was wrong with my meal. The kitchen staff is responsible for their product. It’s not up to the patron to explain why an incredibly over-salted meal is unpalatable. They should taste the food they’re preparing before sending it out, and if they make a mistake, they should acknowledge it, and make it up to the guest without making the guest feel she’s on trial for their error. I left Harper’s Garden hungry and unsatisfied.
