Ribs were old, rubbery, and had no smoke flavor,. They were wrapped in foil swimming in grease. The fried fish was not good either. The sides were mediocre at best. Was my first and last time ordering from this restaurant. I'm not happy to waste money. The platters ended up in the trash ?. So disappointed. Should have checked the reviews before ordering. The ones about the ribs are dead on.
I tried them today 4/16/22, I purchased a pork rib platter w/ baked mac & string beans, I wanted greens but the serving spoon was sitting down in the juices in the pan and the server still want to give them to me, which I refused. I should have took that as an omen but no, I ordered the string beans, they were canned and not very tasty. I am all about buying "black" but black or any nationality, if you have an establishment, you should be good at it. I will NEVER!!!, EVER!!! recommend this smokehouse. NOT TASTY AT ALL!!!

I called in my order for a BBQ pork rib platter. When I looked at my platter when I got home, I was shocked. The ribs were baby back ribs, not juicy meaty long or short ribs, and they were smothered with thick BBQ sauce which hid their burnt, hard inedible meat. There were 5 of these little ribs, a true rip off even if they were good. After pulling the ribs apart and trying to salvage some portion of them, I called Gilbens to complain and a manager told me to return the ribs, which I did the next day. The manager handed the ribs to a female in the back. This female told the manager she wasn't taking them back because I ate too many. I requested to speak to this female but she evidently changed her mind and replaced the ribs. Those ribs weren't burnt, but there were only 4 ribs and they were still baby back ribs and not meaty or tasty. I will never purchase from them again. I am a good customer who tips well and who is very loyal. They'll never know.
I went there today. Ordered the pork rib platter w/ garlic mashed potatoes and broccoli..What a waste of my time. They give you 2 little pieces of ribs..2 bones in each piece. The meat was over sauced. No bread or roll came with the platter. Highly dissatisfied.....

So I went to Gilben's yesterday, first time visiting, me and moms ordered platters. I guess I should have went early but it was approximately 4:00pm, they were out of some meats, so I ordered a beef brisket platter, looked burnt but they say it was the sauce I purchased anyway, mac 'n cheese good, candied yams good, meat slightly tough, weird taste and green beans was salty. Last Sat I place an order for 8 cheesesteaks. I was missing lettuce on one, extra cheese on all of them and ketchup on all of them. I spend almost $100 and my order wasn’t right. This is the first time this has happened. I understand you are short staff, but the staff you do have. Need to slow down and read the orders that come through online…..
