Fu-Wah’s grilled pork Bahn mi is phenomenal and one of the best hoagies I’ve ever had
I'm not a vegetarian, but the tofu bahn mi is amazing. I think it's better than the pork, even though that doesn't seem like it should be possible.
Char grilled pork (order extra cilantro) was delicious and smoky and satisfying!! Store was well curated, grab some giant fresh ginger root to bring home!
Tofu banh-mi is mouthwatering. Just bring cash because they are cash only.
It’s convenient but cash only still! Those hoagies hit the spot and so does the price point but my pockets aren’t printing bills. I just want an in-n-out experience, but between the aggressive pan handling at the door and mean cashier, and cash only it’s…just ugh. I regret my visit every time.
Neighborhood one-stop-shop for all your random pantry essentials and last minute ingredients… such as a lemon! Which I scurried over to fu-wah for the other night mid-potluck prep!!
Fu-Wah has been a personal favorite of mine for the past 7+ years. I almost always get the tofu banh mi. I'm Vietnamese-American so I like to think I have a decent idea of what good authentic banh mi should taste like and this spot is it. The braised tofu is seriously the best and they sell it separately in pints as well, so you can bring it home to eat with whatever you'd like. They also have a good selection of other Asian food products here, like sauces and snacks, without having to go all the way to South Philly, so it's nice when you just need one or two specific things. A bit pricier than going to Washington Ave but you pay for the convenience and it's worth supporting a local "mom and pop," in my opinion. The location is convenient via public transit and I also almost never have issues finding parking to pick up orders I call in over the phone in advance. They're quick too! The store is clean, small but never overly crowded, and the in-store ATM has never given me any issues (they're cash only!).The quality hasn't gone down once since I first discovered Fu-Wah almost a decade ago. I try to take friends or family from out of town here when I can; it's always a solid choice!
Been here 3 times and had bad service each time. The final time I ordered 2 Bahn Mi's and walked to the store. When I got there I was told that I need to cancel the order because it was 30 minutes before they start offering 1 of the sandwiches(most stores will have different menus if this is the case). I asked if I could just be refunded for that one sandwich and get the other but I was told no, and again told to cancel the order myself. I told the guy I never have had to do that before and would figure it out. Then as soon as I walked out of the store they canceled the entire order themselves. Stores are able to see our numbers so not sure why they didn't give me a call after I made the order so I didn't waste my time going there. The bahn mi's are good but not the best I've ever tried for the type of service I received. I won't be returning.
One of the best roast pork bánh mì sandwiches I ever had. Even possibly one of the best sandwiches I ever had.
thank god for fu wahsaves my life every time
