The meat is delicious their sides and salads aren't as good. The sloppy doc is amazing. But take their wedge salad for example. A wedge salad is a wedge of iceberg lettuce not a plastic bin full of cut up romaine lettuce.Would go again. Brining my own wedge salad.
Overall, I really enjoy the atmosphere and MOST of the food I've had at Deke's. I love their potato wedges and have enjoyed their wings, empanadas and salad. However, the barbecue sandwich I had most recently left a lot to be desired. The burger bun itself was delicious (made by a great local bakery), but the chopped barbecue chicken was so dry that it was almost hard to eat. I've heard from a lot of other people that the barbecue is generally dry so I doubt I'll be trying it again. I hope they improve their barbecue because it has real potential.
First time having their food on Tuesday was great and the bartender who checked us out was super friendly. My partner and I decided to order here again for tonight. The second time around for pickup? Could have been better. I had to wait for 10+ minutes before leaving to get my food corrected. Watched the rest of the food sit out and get cold while switching the other food out. Didn’t even receive utensils/napkins which was surprising. The Brisket Cheesesteak and Fat sandwich were really good. Shells and Cheese were a let down. It had a glue like consistency, so skip that. Staff again was super friendly but perhaps it was just an off night. It happens to the best of us. We’ll be sticking to going during the week vs the weekend going forward.
Just got food from these guys food truck. I got the gumbo it was light in color and texture. It was chicken rice soup with kebalsa and not even andouille sausage. And a few shrimp. It was good but 12 dollars for the size I got was absurd. I also got a order of fries and they even messed that up. I paid 16 for gumbo and fries. 1/4 fries are hard and partially raw.
My new hidden gem the food was very good. We had more food the wings are a must & loaded fries with brisket & cheese.??️?
Philly at its finest. Deke is a great guy and brews up some killer barbecue! A must visit if you're ever in town. The brewery next door is good too. But Deke is the OG here.-NoNonsenseKnowHow
The food is delicious. Had the brisket sandwich with cheese wedges and my daughter had the Deke’s Baby back ribs. The meat was tender and well flavored. The cornbread was light and fluffy. The portions were plentiful and the service quick. Try Deke’s. You new favorite BBQ spot.
Not terrible but Philly doesn't exactly have a lot of competition. Have yet to find a decent place for BBQ in this city. Overall, this place was solid but not great. Ribs tasted like beef jerky. Pulled pork was solid but needs better sauce to dip in...their BBQ is just okay. Coleslaw is like minced which is weird but flavors were okay. Cornbread moist but needs some more flavor and a side of butter.
We order the cheesesteak, cheeseburger, mac n cheese and peach cobbler. The only thing that was actually good was the peach cobbler! I am truly disgusted with this restaurant. We paid $46 on this for it to be unseasoned, barely cooked and bland! I will never order from here again!!!
Deke's has been a favorite of mine for several years. I was going to their small site on Ridge Avenue until late this Summer. Now I can enjoy the indoor/ outdoor industrial atmosphere of the Berkeley Avenue site at Wayne Junction. The space is large and safety precautions are in place.Their ribs are always tender, well-flavored and meaty. My only feedback is to change the potato salad recipe and heighten your corn bread (it's a little flat)...The mac 'n cheese is good though.Deke's ribs are consistently good!
