No indoor dining but few seatings outside. It's a Cheese Steak Hoagie that adds tomatoes and lettuce to the regular Cheese Steak.Don't forget to add 'Cheese Whiz'. You can park in the front.
I am from California so I had no idea what Philly cheesesteaks location to try since there are so many. I wanted to avoid the center city in hope of finding a very delicious low key option. Lucky for me I met a random young woman in center city (downtown) that told me she recommends Dalessandros and oh my! Was this location delicious ?. Other reviews are correct that the customer service is not so good. But this place is poppin!! Mid day they were busy. Check out the menu before you get there for a smooth experience. The portion size is perfect and the quality is above expectations. MY TIPs for a perfect sandwich: always add cooked onion and mayonnaise! Yes mayonnaise is a must!! I don’t like mayonnaise much but it really makes the flavors pop. Other then that keep it classy and pick your favorite cheese etc… so happy I came to this location. Well done.
Great place! Excellent tasting food and while the line was long, they do their best to keep it moving quickly. Good idea with the pick up window and plenty of signs and voice queues to understand the process.Suggestion for Improvement:• Add more outdoor seating and awnings.• Partner with next door park to add picnic benches under the trees. Folks always have to sit on the grass.• Add more than one order window. Two windows at the very least for orders.• Make it clearer to new comers that it is cash only and to use the ATM. While they have signs at the window, perhaps add a big sign with an arror at the menu window.• Help customers find parking with signs and partnerships with nearby lots.
Delicious cheesesteak, great vibe. Definitely a Philly classic. A fun experience. Parking is all free street parking, was easily obtainable on a Sunday evening. They don’t slice the cheesesteak and it’s really long, ask for a fork to cut it yourself. There’s some seating but not much, if it’s busy be prepared to eat it in your car or on the curb or bring your own chair and eat on the sidewalk. There’s a pretty good beer and cider menu also. Cash only but there’s an ATM on site. When you walk up, don’t stand in line for the window on the left , go to the one on the right to order (get ready to provide your phone number and first name and initial first- you can always be creative and use whatever name and initial you want (just remember that’s the one you gave them as it will come up on a screen for everyone who is there to see) then order your food. You pay when you pick up your food at the other window. You’ll get a text that says your order is placed. You can stand in line or go and grab a seat. The screen with the names is on the front and right side of the building and they call out really loud when your order is ready, then you stand in the line in front of the window on the left to pay and get your food. They do not have fries as a side, just chips but they do have other food items. I posted a pic of the menu. Great place! You can ask for hot peppers on the side - they have banana and the classic large red cherry hot peppers also. Pat’s is still my fave due to the meat to pepper and wiz ratio plus the Pat’s experience is different. Some would say too touristy but I live in Philly and still love that place. This is definitely my second favorite. It’s a lot of people’s top favorite.
Up to date experience compared to Max's. You stand out side and order through glass. Then they have a speaker system to announce your name for pickup along with a board with your name and wait times. I'm not from Philly so I don't know much about cheesesteaks but it was good. Many ppl said they compete with Max's. We went to Max's the day before and it was more flavorful at Max's in my opinion but if they are busy this is a great substitute. They also packaged it nicely for travel back home so it spent be soggy.
13 bucks for a 12.3 in sub which is what I pay in Baltimore for a 6-8 inch. All meat. I had to add my own salt and pepper. But I was pleased. Not a lot of grissle and fat. I didn't feel like I was eating Mostly grease. I had American cheese, lettuce and mayo. Only wish they sold fries. It was also take out only. 15 min wait at most for order.
They’re great cheesesteaks and the Italian hoagie is very good as well, would recommend both. I’d recommend calling up and putting your order in over the phone (depends on time of day but ours took ~20 minutes) and then just waiting in the car for a text around the corner/by the athletic field . Then guy at the counter isn’t chatty, but that’s the authentic Philly experience.
Seriously delicious and worth the small detour every time we pass through Philly. Sandwiches are huge and high quality. We always call ahead and it's hot and ready. Or you can order at one windowon site. When your order is ready you wait at the other side window in line. Cash only.
In town to visit our son, who raved about these cheesesteaks. Though everyone else in the family enjoyed their cheesesteaks, I wasn't too crazy about the chicken cheesesteak I ordered; it was very dry and bland-tasting, from my perspective. When we do come back to visit, I will give it another try. Perhaps the "chicken" was having a bad day! :o)
They had the best in Philly then it has changed from the original owners to someone else. They screwed up first, then I guess they asked the origins owners how they were so successful. They changed and became #1 again. Then Covid hit,and they must have sold it or started using different meat or raise, but something changed. Now when I went there the sandwich was tasting very different and not for the better. So I haven't been back there again yet. But eventually I will because they are or were the best around. Hopefully they went back to the same steak and sauce because I have been going there for 50 years and only 2x had a bad steak sandwich. I hope they got their act together again because the place across the street is the worst. Dalasandroes have always been the best in Philly,I hope they still are.
