It took forever for us to order our food, and even longer to get it. They were out of the drinks we asked for, butter, and couldn't make the pancakes my friends wanted. We watched other guests get up and leave. The waitress was nice, hence the 2 stars. When trying to get the check to leave, our waitress was at the bar with the cook and another guy. We had to kinda yell to get her attention. We were trying to go to Bookers. They were packed and had no more tables. We should have waited.
This happy hour was amazing! We had best service from Sheena she went way above and beyond. The bartender her drinks were so perfect. The food was wonderful the chicken wings were fried to perfection. I love the vibe of this place and I love that it's Black owned I love to support my people.
Went for brunch. Staff was friendly, food was good, coffee was strong. They had a soccer game playing on the t.v. at the bar (they have a full bar). A little over priced comparative to similar locations, I would call it a $$$ instead of $$. I think the highlight of what we ordered was the shrimp and grits-it was very tasty, most of the menu was was you would typically find for a brunch not so much Mediterranean.
The whole experience from start to finish was disappointing. Sat down and ordered drinks right away for the server to come back 10 minutes later and ask what we wanted a second time. Another ten minutes go by to be served the wrong drinks. How you can charge 15 dollars for a TASTELESS hummus platter with stale pita is beyond me.
Overall experience was negative. I shouldn't have gone to this restaurant after all the recent bad review online but wanted to give them a benefit of a doubt. I have been to this restaurant twice before the pandamic started and their food was great. I always had their Moroccan chicken & waffle. I went today, the food is over priced and really bad food quality. I understand food prices are high right now. Even if you will increase your prices why don't you maintain the same quality. I had the Moroccan chicken and waffle ( before pandamic it was 4 waffles and 3 big chicken pieces) now it is 4 waffles and 1 small chicken piece that had absolutely no flavor. The plate on which the food was served was even chipped on the side. Imagine paying $28 for that kind of brunch. The chef even came to our table to ask how the food was, I told him it wasn't that good. I showed him pictures of the same meal I had preciously at Aksum before the pandamic and he left the table without saying anything positive. I don't think I will ever go to this restaurant again. I am definitely not spending a dime of my money or my 40mins drive here again. Overpriced bad food overall.
I read really mixed reviews before eventually deciding to take a risk and eat here. I wish that I had heeded the negative reviews. We ordered a $15 falafel platter that arrived with 3 small freezer falafels(you would be better off with a halal cart or nearby Saads halal) and an incredibly bland hummus. The pita was extremely salty possibly to account for how stale it was? The service was bad; the waitress botched our drink order even though we ordered the same drink special and had to come back a second time to confirm our drink order. We didn’t dare continue our disappointment by ordering overpriced entrees and will most definitely not be returning. There are so many other gems on the pike so do yourself a favor, and skip Aksum
NICE! The atmosphere was relaxing, drinks and food were delicious. The owner thanked me and my dinner companion for patronizing his business. We skipped dessert because we couldn't eat another bite but we will return, perhaps for brunch
As a former worker don’t eat here. I quit in January this place is terrible. They’ve knowingly served spoiled meat and vegetables on multiple occasions and contaminated food. I’ve even found roaches in the refrigerators and in some dishes so many times, the kitchen is not correctly cleaned and disinfected at night after closing and I promise you the staff in the kitchen rarely wear gloves and have on multiple occasions have touched customers food with no gloves or having clean hands the owner is very money hungry and does not care about food safety, workers, or customers. I also have proof of all of this.
Fabulous! Excellent service and attentive staff.
I took my wife and kids here for a birthday brunch. Good thing is, this restaurant offers the full menu all day. I was able to get the lollipop lamb chop meal, which included green beans and mashed potatoes. My wife and kids ordered breakfast. Our waitress was kind, and warmed up after a short while. The food was great. While we were wrapping up, the chef came out and asked us how the food was. That was pretty cool. I love good experiences, and our time at Aksum was one of them. I also love the fact that this restaurant is black-owned. I totally recommend you all to give them a visit. You won’t be disappointed
