Took a friend to a follow up doctor appt. after surgery this morning and afterwards she needed to eat and we found Bagel Cafe. Upon entering, the associate was sitting on a stool behind the counter and without getting up, hollered out, "Can I help you with something?" My friend was deciding on which sandwich to get and I was planning to order a bagel. The associate got off the stool and went to the register area and was tapping a pen or pencil repeatedly and it made me feel rushed.Then, she says, "You paying cash? You got cash?" I answer, "No, I don't have cash to which she responds, "My machine don't work." We don't believe this. This was never told us upon entering or during her tapping. There was no sign indicating such.My friend felt uncomfortable and said, let's just go somewhere else. We are unsure if race played a part in this but we will never be returning to this establishment again. Please do better.

The flavor, variety, and freshness of the bagels offered can't be beat by anything else in the area. The last time I had a garlic bagel this good was when I was a small child, many years ago. And they make the breakfast sandwiches with real whole eggs, not something out of a carton, like you'd get at chain shops.Monna, the woman at the counter most days, is a paragon of friendly customer service. Even when she's knee-deep in orders, she greets everyone who comes in the door and she is possessed of a joie de vivre that I've seen in very few people. There's a reason they have a lot of return customers. In today's world, where you're usually just a number in a line waiting to receive food off an assembly chain, Monna offers old-fashioned, personal customer service reminiscent of happier, simpler times.
My wife and I love coming here. Mona is always cheerful and full of life! She is never not happy and loves to converse with her customers. The food is always fresh, and the portions are very generous.

Best bagel sandwiches in the area. This is the only restaurant where you can get a bacon egg and cheese without the bagel being covered in grease. Super nice family manages (might be owners) this location, wonderful woman behind the counter.
