Excellent absolutely excellent food! Pot pie was awesome. The owner was most friendly and attentive and our waitress Emily was outstanding. A very nice selection of menu options. Worth the trip.
Food was fresh and good. We were on vacation and did not know what was around. My wife googled places to eat near us and she saw Metro and what kind of food they had so we rolled the dice and came up a Winner. I will order from Metro Diner again.
Always love eating here. Mark is a great manager and Jason a great cook. Mary took good care of us. Great meal “smothered chicken”. Fantastic taste. Wife had salmon and sides. Everything is always fresh and many unique entrees. Never leave hungry. They always treat us like family!
METRO DINER, at 5600 CARLISLE PIKE, MECHANICSBURG, PA 17050, was something to talk about after I left!I ordered FRIED CHICKEN & WAFFLES,2 SCRAMBLED EGGS with CHUNKS of STEAK,STRAWBERRIES-BANANAS-CHOCOLATE CHIPS-CREAM & CHOCOLATE SYRUP on top of WAFFLES (WAFFLE SUNDAE)...simply delicious!To add to my sweet tooth, I also ordered 1 'BIG' slice of CHOCOLATE CAKE ?. The food was 'over-the-top' mouth-watering!The DINER was clean. The restroom was clean, and the waitresses were very KIND and PROFESSIONAL...what more could 'you' ask for...a magic pair of shoes, that will take you back to enjoy delicious food all over again!THANK YOU METRO DINER!
The slogan "Where the locals eat" is exactly right! I'm a local and am in there at least 2-3 times per week. Even though it's considered a "chain", Mark (Manager) and the staff make sure you are treated as a friend and valued customer, whether you are a regular or a first-time diner. The food is delicious and my family has tried just about everything on the menu and we have always left full and happy. The service is above and beyond what you normally see at restaurants. Mark appreciates his wonderful staff both in the kitchen and front of the house and it shows with the excellent service you will receive. And if you receive excellent food and service, as I know you will, please let Mark and your server know. It's worth it to see their smiles!
There were literally, not figuratively, only two people working: a cook and a host/wait person. There were already two tables before us and we were sat pretty quickly. Pretty impressed with Rowan’s ability to keep up with the tables, make pleasant conversation, and clean and refill very timely. Food was done pretty quickly too, especially considering I order an entire half of a chicken, fried of course. Only reason I took a star off, and I honestly would’ve only taken half of one if I could, is because I wasn’t a huge fan of how the chicken was done, but that wasn’t the fault of the establishment, everyone has their own version of dishes and I just happened to not be too impressed with this one. It wasn’t bad at all though.
Stopped in originally thinking of just getting a salad, but after a look at the menu, I decided to go the comfort route (after all it IS a diner;) Tried one of the Breakfast Bowls ...for dinner (Steak & Scramble Bowl). It was quite good, service was good, staff was friendly - definitely a good experience! I'll be back to try some other items on the menu....
Good food done right! First time here while visiting from Cleveland, OH area. Wish we had this place by us as it is really good food. We visited on a Sunday morning and had a very friendly waitress. It was very busy. My husband had the meat lovers omelet -and oh those homemade biscuits! I had eggs, bacon and pancakes. Very good food, service and the diner seemed clean and decorated nicely. When in town, we will see you for breakfast or lunch!

This is an excellent diner with delicious traditional diner food along with intriguing special items. Service was excellent even though the dining room was full (another good indicator). At first I thought the prices might be a bit high, but the quality and quantity of the food persuaded me the cost is reasonable and a good value. We will be returning!
